Shinichi+Ran

This has been discussed before, I'm sure, but as to this cryptic statement (supposedly) made by Gosho Aoyama in an interview about "not being able to reveal Ran's birthday yet"...

What were your thoughts on that? I was half hoping/half suspecting it'd lead to the end of the series, with that day basically being the definite return of Shinichi (wouldn't that be the best birthday present ever...?). On the other hand... is the date itself so compromising that he can't announce it yet? oO

I'm thinking it has something to do with Ran's suspicions. The questioning of Shinichi's fingerprints on Kazuha's omamori, the offhand remark about DNA in the Wedding Eve case, and some more in yet to come anime episodes, plus Sera, it's probably building up into another Ran suspicion arc imo.

Or maybe to finally slip up?

Although I am curious as to why he won't reveal the date itself of Ran's birthday, that seems a bit odd if the date isn't important to what happens on that day.  I'd have no idea as to what it could be, since I don't know jack about Japanese holidays though

I've started to think that in a way, by staying with Ran as Conan, Shinichi is 'training' Ran.. Preparing her for their future children. :3 She tends to get very motherly over Conan. I'm not too far into the anime yet but the one episode, The Black Wings of Icarus, where she tells him "I'm gonna stay here till you fall asleep" was something a friends mother did with me and her daughter when we were kids and refused to sleep. :3

I wonder what Ran's reaction will be for if/when she finds out.. =w=
