In honor of such a festive occasion: You’ve even missed two, it’s fifteen altogether.

This episode featured more ’07 tracks than some episodes from 2007. Let’s all take a moment to think about that.
I was unsure tbh, so I'm not surprised by this.

Episode 896: The Woman With White Hands (Part One)

-A woman having white hands in this series is not remotely unusual or interesting to be the title of an episode. The vast majority of characters in this series have white hands. Unless they mean Caucasian specifically, I guess? Regardless, it'd be more notable if they had like...blue hands or something. Like hey, why the actual hype are your hands blue? That'd be worth making an episode about!

-SHE'S GONNA DO THE SMILE. WAIT FOR IT...WAIT FOR IT. There we go!

-SMALL SONOKO : D

-Oh god, I briefly thought from the sounds he was making that Kappei was voicing young Shinichi O__o

-Genta hates loud music. Which would give him a character trait unrelated to food at least.

-tbh, the dead dude looks like he's just casually laying on the ground, not a care in the world

-Oh he actually isn't dead. Ok...

-Wait seriously? I was joking when I said that it was just a woman's hands! I assumed that like they were gonna be painted white or had some sort of white thing on them to make it notable. It's just...hands.

-Also, based on the intro, we already know it's him so...

-Oh so the trick is clearly "how did he makes his hand look this white?" Ok that's a bit more notable but that makes him needing to point it out INCREDIBLY suspicious.

-I like how even kids realize how suspicious this is. Like you just happen to have this evidence? Like, come on!

-I'm pretty sure Rumi intentionally ruined that painting to get Conan to solve a case in front of her btw.

-Thank you Genta, I never would've known you're not wearing makeup if you didn't say that.

Episode 897: The Woman With White Hands (Part Two)

-"accidentally"

-Please stop sniffing the hand of this child

-The fact that Conan is laughing that hard is making this funnier than it actually is

-Wow Genta, you're bad at everything.

-What an arrogant fool. "If I casually try to get out of this situation ASAP and smile at someone else being the killer, I won't look suspicious at all!"

-Please stop trying to make inspectors sniff a child's hand

-"doesn't Mitsuhiko's left hand look like Genta's right hand?" No, it kinda doesn't.

-Well that ending was...weirdly foreboding. It's maybe like the "Who is Bourbon?" Okiya, Sera, Amuro thing. Except this one is an actual mystery. ;)

Case was decently interesting. Felt like one of those ones where I can actually get where they were going with everything, if not exactly, so that was fun. Ending doesn't mean much right now, but I'm glad we still have a bunch of mystery characters where their role isn't quickly obvious.

Episode 898: The Melting Cake!

-I keep forgetting that Amuro works here. Though it is amazing that when deciding how Amuro and Akai were the same ("you're just like me" enemies cliche), is by "wearing an apron."

-"Has there always been a refrigerator here?" Yes Ran, a cafe would in fact, have a fridge.

-I've always wanted internet connected hot water!

-The dramatic music over THE MELTED CAKES is amazing

-This is not the most important situation these characters have been in

-THE DRONE IS OUT FOR BLOOD

-"We know you have a lot of money." Pfft, hand it over Conan!

-Cake plagiarism

-"You look into anything that makes you curious" I mean, he's looked into things because the plot needed him to so he doesn't even need that excuse

-Amuro, you're being focused on way too much for no reason in this part. What did you do?

-Someone tell Amuro he doesn't need to act suspicious at this point

-I like the implication that Azusa wouldn't have considered just moving the thing without someone telling her

Well that sure was an episode. I can't say I was bored but...it was so stupid. "OH NO MY CAKES :(" is the most nothing problem in a world with so much constant murder. I will say, if nothing else, it did make me want cake.

Episode 899: The Real Culprit's Scream

-I feel like I'm behind on this.

-Recent cases should lead me to believe that she totally stabbed herself tbh

-"Feel the bright morning sunlight!" is my immediate reaction to a woman running away from a potential murderer because he stabbed her friend. Thanks Conan, you really know how to set a mood! :D

-You can tell this is an AO because it's an episode with Conan and Kogoro but no Ran

-This is way too convenient

-Oh the supposed culprit is dead, I'm so surpriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiised

-This is so transparent

-"I, Mouri Kogoro, have never seen a fake suicide note ever!"

-"They put bread in the toaster, placed a tray on top of it" ...well I think we've finally gotten to the mad libs era of AOs. We're just gonna put in random words and then figure out how to make them relevant to the trick in a murder mystery later!

-SUDDENLY, PARIS.

-Ok, it's just a picture. Because this is Conan tv animation, it was hard to tell for a second. Whoa, you had me worried that something interesting was going to happen! Don't scare me like that!

Wow, no wonder I took so long to get to this one. What a waste of time, even if the last 1/3 was almost...something.

Episode 900: Solving Mysteries in a Locked Room

-900 episodes, holy crap.

-Crunchyroll sometimes picks the weirdest anime to put ads on their videos. Yes, Darling in the Franxx and How to Keep A Mummy, two equally well liked anime. This is like when you watch an animated movie over here, and you see trailers for basically any animated moving coming out the next year, regardless of anything else.

-"There is no mystery Mouri Kogoro can't solve!" Ok, then. Solve how time works in this universe and how it makes sense. *Kogoro bursts into flames*

-I just realized that they spell out Saturday on this show that airs every Saturday. I don't know why it took me this long.

-"I see. You have a list of suspects." They were even nice enough to limit it to the mandatory three already. Saves Kogoro some work.

-"I conduct a lot of shady business" I mean, at least he's honest

-I approve of the idea of "I CAN BRIBE PEOPLE INTO NOT WANTING TO MURDER ME. WITH MONEY."

-Ah yes the "Kogoro actually gets it right but lol jk there's more to this" type of case. That sounds like a joke of me describing a specific type of case that only fits this one, but it's actually happened quite a few times.

-WHY WOULD YOU JUST BE CARRYING THAT PEN THE NEXT DAY?

-what

-...WHAT

-"Our Prank Show was a big success" ....

https://media.giphy.com/media/b9aScKLxdv0Y0/giphy.gif
I have to give it to them. This is such an insanely stupid idea, I honestly respect it. You got me. Well played.

...why is half an episode left?

-They're kinda assholes though, right? That's a fair thing to say, right?

-It'd be amazing if this is what finally exposed the truth behind Sleeping Kogoro

-I mean, Kogoro has dealt with actual murders involving theater troupes as well tbh.

-Well this is an awkward way for Kogoro to die

-Well this is certainly a turn of events

-...but if they tell the world, you're going to jail so...

-Wow Conan, have you really run out of good plans?

-Conan's real plan was water!

-"It's a long story" indeed it is Conan.

Well that certainly happened! Like that was a crazy as heck case for one episode. You certainly can't say it was boring! It was as unboring as you can reasonably expect. I did like it, though as a mystery...wtf? It was just insanity. But as always, I was entertained, which is the only thing that matters for a filler episode.

Episode 901: Counselor Kisaki's SOS (Part One)

-The black bars over the TOTALLY NOT MEGURE AND KOGORO faces is a cute touch

-Well I'm sure in no way will Kogoro have to eat his words after that!

-Wow, Eri is unbelievably good at this. Is she typing at 40 words per second?

-This is bizarre

-"The moms are multiplying?!" Ok, this line is tremendous.

-You're too slow!

-"We're going to show Mouri Kogoro an embarrassing video of his wife." ...I'm not sure if I should be concerned or baffled by this statement.

-You know it's not real blood because it's red.

-I'm genuinely annoyed that last statement is true.

-"You confused tomator juice with blood?" I know right? Blood isn't red!

-"rip her skin off" is the type of threat you know this tv show literally cannot show...

-Well this is the least believable thing that a child would care about remembering

-"Come to think of it, this has happened a bunch of times" IT CERTAINLY HAS

-Well this has been interesting at the very least

Episode 902: Counselor Kisaki's SOS (Part Two)

-Wow, they're kinda morons

-Dramatic Conan with just...seafood in the background

-This is a very specific clue she thought of that quickly

-Ok the Bell Tree Tower thing is a bit much

-Wow, what a creep

-This is the weirdest case of revenge porn ever. ...that comes across as a joke, but I'm basically just stating what it is

-"The only person in the world who's allowed to see Eri naked is me!" pfft. I mean, it isn't Rem wanting to be the only one to sniff Natsuki Subaru instead of a giant monster, but it'll do.

-"I won a kendo tournament once!"

-How is anything a credible threat to Ran again?

-RIP Drain pipe

-I knew they weren't gonna do anything with that! Dammit, it would've been at least kinda cool if Conan was just...weirdly vague.

-I do like that Eri was OFFENDED by this non-realistic lawyer movie. Don't ever show her an Ace Attorney game...

This case was pretty fun. Kidnapping cases tend to be fairly exciting and this one was no different. The actual clues were a bit silly, even for this series, but it was an enjoyable couple of episodes and probably one of the better Eri cases in a long, long time(though partially because Eri hasn't had a story focused on her in like...ages).

I’m surprised that AA and DC haven’t had a crossover, actually—the most popular detective series and the most popular lawyer series seems prime material, in terms of mystery solving suspense and/or ridiculously awesome content.

With season 2 of AA coming this fall, it would be the perfect time for a DC TV special featuring a crossover with AA… eh, a guy who is a fan of both these properties can dream, right?
“Life is infinitely stranger than anything which the mind of man could invent. We would not dare to conceive the things which are really mere commonplaces of existence. If we could fly out of that window hand in hand, hover over this great city, gently remove the roofs, and and peep in at the queer things which are going on, the strange coincidences, the plannings, the cross-purposes, the wonderful chains of events, working through generations, and leading to the most outre results, it would make all fiction with its conventionalities and foreseen conclusions most stale and unprofitable.”

Episode 903: Birds of a Feather at Loggerheads

-Have we seen "Danny's" before? I feel like this has been in the series before...

-Something about that one dude's back in that position is making my back hurt just watching him

-The old manga drawings in the Opening! :o

-That might've just been the best Opening of the series this decade. I'll have to think about it for a while and for once it ISN'T because of the song, but I really liked it. They sacrificed animation in the first half so that A. the first half would have more visually striking images (as much as Conan is able to do at least) and B. so that the 2nd half was this fun, interesting action sequence as part of some narrative of men in black(!!!) attacking Ran and both Ran and Conan kicking their asses. And the drama and romance of the last few seconds of Conan and Ran (again for just an opening) is better than the majority of what Gosho writes for them just because of how they were drawn and vaguely interacted.

-And back to the drawings, I really underestimate how good of an artist Gosho can be. Especially with how utterly mediocre the series looks most of the time in the anime, plus the fact that the story is all about the writing far more than any art. But even still, looking at peak era Conan manga drawings is such a real eye opening contrast. Or at least it will be once I get back to the actual episode itself instead of the Opening.

-"I definitely had a motive to murder him" is a very smart thing to say!

-"It may have been my imagination" it never is

-I'm sure Conan never would've figured this out had Ran not received a package at that exact time!

-Wtf? Who would write that? "Oh he's a writer, so he would write down his murder in a way that a writer writes." It'd be like if this person was an artist and they found an MS Paint picture of the guy being poisoned by him.

-"Stay back, Conan!" "Okay!" *immediately runs off screen*

That sure was another case. I honestly have no idea what to say about it at this point. It's not like the most boring one by any means but it wasn't particularly fun or engaging.
