The victim was most likely attacked by the culprit. In the dark of the room, the victim could not see the culprit.

Who is the culprit?
The culprit is probably the Manager and an helper.

What and how did the culprit do?
If the Manager and the Director both have deluxe rooms, than only Conan could have the last room. If all the rooms have the same remotes, then the Manager could have used his one room remote to control the video camera. The culprit could have put a tape into the video player to startle the Director. He uses the fluorescent tape to find his way around the room. Then as the Director falls, he quickly grabs the tape and hides behind a door or closet. The small dot of light could have been the helper flashing a small pen light at the room to get the culprit's attention. This can also help the culprit to discover his surroundings. The Manager quickly exited the room while no one is paying attention. He discards the tape or places back into his own room before arriving at the scene of the crime.

How to prove it?
The fluorescent tape could have his fingerprints on it. They also could look for the tape that play the sudden noise. They could check the tape for fingerprints as well. They also could go across to the other hotel and find the pen light in the other room.

Interesting theory but not the answer. However you got some very important things right for the first time!

I think it is pretty obvious that the culprit is the Manager. But he had no helpers.

I wrote "video tape recorder" instead of "video cassette recorder". Sorry if this caused confusion. It is a VCR. Otherwise you are right at this point too. Yes, he did.

This is what happened! But it didn't only startle him...

He discards the tape or places back into his own room before arriving at the scene of the crime.

The tape that Conan found was all the time in the VCR.

The fluorescent tape could have his fingerprints on it.

No fingerprints were left at the scene or anywhere in connection with the crime.[/spoiler]

What do you mean when you say

'The tape that Conan found was all the time in the VCR.'

I meant it was not replaced or took out and hidden somewhere. It was in the VCR before, during and after the crime.

Okay, some changes to make it easier to solve: 1 mirror was involved, there are no mirrors at the crime scene and the fluorescent tape was on the VCR.

The culprit put the tape in some time before the crime. Sorry for being inaccurate at this.

[spoiler] The tape did not only startle him  but was also very scandalous to Director. In a desperate attempt to grab the tape, the Manger trips him. The cassette tape is then taken out and the Manger hides somewhere else in room. Then arrives to the scene of the crime. The other 'mirror' that was used was the window of the room directly across from that room.

To prove it would be finding the florescent tape or the cassette. It is most likely that  the manager has more dirt on the Director  [/spoiler]

The cassette tape was not taken out. It stayed in the player. Conan was the first to take it out.

The other 'mirror' that was used was the window of the room directly across from that room.

It wasn't the window but the real mirror, otherwise it's right! But what was it used for?

To prove it would be finding the florescent tape or the cassette.

Both were found. Also, the tape is empty. Read all previous hints regarding this case and you will find out these.[/spoiler]
