hehe,  "Tricky Lateral Thinking".

They are short, but they make you think a loooot, well, for me.

Have fun and enjoy!

1) Bruce wins the race, but he gets no trophy.

2) A horse jumps over a tower and lands on a man, who disappears.

3) A horse jumps over a tower and lands on a man, who disappears.

4) A man rides into town on Friday. He stays three nights and leaves on Friday

5) A young woman is whisked away to a far off land, where she kills the first person she meets. Then she teams up with three others to kill again.

All of these are kind of vague so you could probably find lots of answer which fulfill the conditions....
Let's do some ramdom guessing  :D...
Spoiler:
1. Okay lets assume that we are talking about horse racing:
a) Bruce might be the horse's name and since it's the rider (not he horse)who gets the trophy...
b) Bruce is the rider's name and he was in the lead but fell off his horse a meter before the finishing line. He could still cross the line first but without doing so while being on his horse's back I don't think he would get the trophy...
c)This was simply a training or a test race not an official one-you wouldn't get a trophy for that

2.+3. Any reason for posting this double? Only thing I can come up with for now: The tower and the man are just the shadows. With light coming from the right direction it would look as if the horse would jump over the tower and could land on the shadow of the man. Then then a cloud moves in front of the sun and the man's shadow disappears (or maybe the horse's shadow would be so big that you couldn't see the man's shadow anymore...

4. Again more than one way of solving this.
a) The horse's name is Friday
b) The comes on Friday, leaves on Saturday, comes back on Wednesday, stays until Friday and leaves again.
c) Or a mixture of both: The man arrives on Friday buys a horse and names it Friday (might be some weird habit of his-naming his horse after the day of he week he bought it on) and leaves on Monday on his horse named Friday

5. No idea...
These really are just random answers, no idea if they are the ones you are looking for... (I hope I won't ruin my carefully built up reputation with this  :P). Let's see what everyone else makes of these...

To be honest I just wanted to leave some to ayw as well (and he didn't disappoint me).... he already knows the answers to my ones so he might get bored  :P ... maybe I went a bit over the top with actually posting a wrong answer  :-\
Just joking I actually didn't have a clue - I like the 2. but not a chance that I ever would have figured out 5. ( I actually saw a performance of "that" once, but I was either 6 ot 7years old at the time-I don't remember a thing about it...)

1) Bruce wins the race, but he gets no trophy.
If you think of a race as an election, and the seat ( president, mayor, congress ... ) as not a trophy you get one answer. Also the one about the lion chasing a deer. We will call the deer Bruce. By the deer winning, it does not die. The saying goes he was just running for dinner, I was  running for my life. Define what you mean by Trophy.

3) A horse jumps over a tower and lands on a man, who disappears.

4) A man rides into town on Friday. He stays three nights and leaves on Friday
There is another way to do this one . He enters town on Friday leaves before night fall. Come back and stays Tuesday night, Wednesday Night , And Thursday night. The question did not say he could not leave town between the He entered ( Friday ) and the time he left ( Friday )

5) A young woman is whisked away to a far off land, where she kills the first person she meets. Then she teams up with three others to kill again.
I was think the three fates for this one. The final Fate ends life with scissors. One weaves the thread to start the life and one measure the thread to determine the length of life.
