The only real crime in this topic is that Jing hasn't hijacked it for his own twisted use yet. :-*

Oh thanks,mmm, let´s see, now you are Industrial Red State (always thinking about others  :P), don´t know if that´s good or bad, but anyways...

sstimson : You´re answer is wrong, keep trying ;)

*EDIT* Now that the riddles are almost done, but not all of them, quiet some of them left. If anyone wants the name of the book, here it is, a really famouse one:
" The Hobbit " by John Ronald Reuld Tolkien. Chapter named Riddles in the Dark
Here is the riddle from the book:

It cannot be seen, cannot be felt,
Cannot be heard, cannot be smelt.

It lies behind stars and under hills,
And empty holes it fills.

It comes first and follows after,
Ends life, kills laughter

You made minor changes to it

I know the answer now but it would not be fair to the other so I'll wait

They are not easy... I've printed them out and am taking them with me to boring seminars.

Holmes, if it's not too much trouble, could you post the Spanish version too? (Sorry for making you type a lot)

Here´s the Spanish version:

1) Las raíces no se ven,
y es más alta que un árbol.
Arriba y arriba sube,
y sin embargo no crece.

2) Treinta caballos blancos
en una sierra colorada.
Primero mordisquean,
y luego machacan,
y luego descansan.

3) Canta sin voz,
vuela sin alas,
sin dientes muerde,
sin voca habla.

4) Un ojo en la cara azul
vio un ojo en la cara verde.
"Ese ojo es como esete ojo",
dijo el ojo primero,
"pero en lugares bajos,
y no en lugares altos."

5) No puedes verla ni sentirla,
y ocupa todos los huecos;
no puedes olerla ni oírla,
está detrás de los astros,
y está al pie de las colinas,
llega primero y se queda;
mata risas y acaba vidas.

6) Caja sin llave,
tapa o bisagras,
pero adentro un tesoro
dorado guarda.

7) Todos viven sin aliento;
y fríos como los muertos,
nunca con sed, siempre bebiendotodos en malla,
siempre en silencio.

8 ) Sin-piernas se apoya en una pierna;
dos-piernas se sienta cerca de tres-piernas,
y cuatro-piernas consiguió algo.

9) Devora todas las cosas:
aves, bestias, plantas y flores;
roe el hierro, muerde el acero,
y pulveriza la peña compacta;
mata reyes, arruina ciudades
y derriba las altas montañas.
