What does buying a sausage have to do with saving plastic? I don't really understand the second suspect at all.

Anyway, initial theory that came to mind:
Spoiler:
Conan fingers the culprit as victim #1. He deduces that the culprit stalked his victim and knocked him out cold with a blow from the pipe to the occipital region. Once knocked out, he shoves the crumpled paper down the victim's throat until he suffocates and retrieves the paper leaving no trace of the asphyxiation. Conan was tipped off when he realizes that most suitcases (at least mine) are waterproof and the paper in the culprits suitcase is wet from the victims saliva.

I meant that he doesn't have to carry another plastic bag to hold the sausage and good reasoning but wrong. I don't think paper will fully clog up your throat as there may be gaps that it doesn't cover. Plus you would have a hard time getting the paper back out again and if you ripped it the coroner would have found the paper. Plus it's sometimes hard to know when someone has actually died from asphyxiation, checking the heartbeat isn't always the full proof way to knowing someone's dead,so knowing when to take out the paper can be a bit of trouble. I should also mention that all the victims weren't discovered until the next day in the afternoon except for the current one. Ahh damn should have mentioned that the suitcases are all water tight and water proof.
Below is riddle again.
Spoiler:
Japan was at the grips of a serial killer. The tabloids named him the "Ghost strangler" for all the killer only appears in cold dark nights. All the serial killer's victims died of asphyxiation, yet there is no indication as to what actually strangled the poor victims. No marks, scratches or bruises were found on the neck. All the victims had heavy bone damage round the back of the head, had they not died of asphyxiation they most likely would have died from the injuries. Money and other expensive goods were taken from the victims. Reports of eye witnesses claim they saw a man with a suitcase.

A call came to the police reporting another victim. This time however, there were sights of the culprit and it seems they went to the public toilet.
"Alright! Units move to the public toilet in the city park!" ordered inspector Megure.
Surrounded and armed, Megure smiled. "How many people will go to the public toilet at night with suitcases? We got our killer."
"Inspector!!" Megure turned to see Detective Takagi sprinting to him. "There's three people in there, and well they all have suitcases!"
"WHAT!!" Megure couldn't believe his luck, especially when he spotted Kogorou and his family approaching him. "Shinigami, indeed."

After filling in Kogorou (and conan) about the case the 3 suspects came out of the toilet cubicle and their suitcases were examined.

Suspect 1 the inside the suitcase was wet and empty except for crumpled paper, which was also wet. "I accidentally dropped it in the water fountain(there is a fountain in the park), so it got wet. My reason for the use of the toilet was that I wanted to dry my suitcase and I needed a place to sit down."
Takagi passed suspect 1 suitcase to the forensics and placed suspect 2 suitcase on the dry table.
Suspect 2 had a suitcase filled with papers and a frozen sausage. "I brought this earlier at the local shop. I wanted to save some plastic as I didn't want to contribute to pollution, so I stuck it in my suitcase. I normally use public toilets as it's more environmentally friendly.
Again Takagi passed the suitcase away and placed down suspect 3 suitcase on the table.
Suspect 3 had a bunch of knives in his suitcase. "I was planning to sell the knives, but I didn't manage to sell any. Can't a guy just use the toilet when he needs to?"

A weapon was found nearby, a small metal pipe coated in the victim's blood except near the bottom, no fingerprints were on it. The suitcase was water tight and water proof. All the victims weren't discovered until the next day in the afternoon except for the current one.

So mysteries to explain:
How did the killer commit the crime?
Who is the killer? And what proof is points to him?
I see what you did there ;)

In that case I think I have a pretty good idea as to the answer, but I'm sure some other guys would like a crack at it so I'll hold off for now.

Interesting deduction, not right however. You can't exactly use anything else to write on other than paper. So even if you're the most environmentally friendly person there is you can't exactly change the fact that most people use paper.

My Mums Theory  :D
Spoiler:
Suspect 2-
He hits the victims round the back of the head with the pipe, then stuffs a frozen sausage down their throat, and women they're dead he takes out the sausage goes into the public toilet to wash his hands and then wipes it off with the paper so as not leave any evidence. Proof- the wet paper.
Haha, makes me laugh

Welcome to the thread akaira!!
Clever mum you got there, but sorry to tell her she's wrong. It's actually very hard to force something back out of the throat, so getting a frozen sausage out will be quite difficult. And I think you might of mixed up the suspects, suspect 1 had wet paper not 2 but nevertheless very good idea.

She s convinced it's frozen sausage guy though XD

One question, has he taken the belongings from his most recent victim?

My theory:
Spoiler:
Suspect 1:

He gets dry ice and puts it in his suitcase wrapped in paper surrounded by normal ice to keep it frozen. He kills them at night when it's cold so a) no one sees the fumes coming from his suitcase, and b) so that the ice lasts longer. He places the dry ice next to his victims after he knocks them out, he used one of the papers to hold the bar to prevent fingertips. After a while the carbon dioxide in the dry ice will start top replace the oxygen in their blood which happens during normal asphyxiation. Eventually the dry ice would disappear by morning and the victim would be dead.

The proof would be if he lives or works in an environment where dry ice could be easily obtained or if he purchased any recently. Also since it was recent, higher carbon dioxide levels in the area or traces in his suitcase or on the papers, could also prove it.

He probably went to the toilet to flush the paper with the blood on it, so you could check the drainage system or luminol the toilet (if that would work)

Haha, didn't think so.

Well, I'm all out of theories C:

My second theory would have actually been along the lines of MDavid's, except I would have added to the proof that he isn't what he says he is because:
Spoiler:
A public toilet isn't really more environmentally friendly(possibly even less so) and sticking a frozen sausage into your suitcase would cause it to get your papers (assuming they were important) wet as it began to defrost and sweat, not to mention the sheer irrationality of the notion. He could have simply recycled the plastic bag after he was done using it.
There's far too many illogical elements to his story for him not to be guilty, unless they were added intentionally as a red herring.

Question: If asphyxiation had been induced by drowning, the coroner would a discovered that, correct?
