I wonder if we would have won without the PO's.
Looks like I have to defend my PO...
First, I admit that the BO ones could have been better. It became evident that they were not as much fun for you as I hoped it would. Mistakes happen, though. Especially when rying something for the first time.
You lost the game because the town did not have a single misslynch and lynched one of you each day, starting with day 2. This is why you lost. If the town does that, the BO has no chance, obviously.

So to answer if you would have won without POs: Definitely not.
Sure, there was some luck involved for the town to be able to form alliances so quickly (due to character actions, not PO). There was also a bit of bad luck involved for the BO - such as claiming roles right in front of the Detective Boys. But the game would have gone pretty much the same for town.
I am not sure how much not being able to talk about your PO did screw up the BO. Still you could have played normally and considered your tasks a "bonus". Again, I admit they could have needed some more work.


Now, I could just claim that PO did not do that much for the town, so let's take a better look on each of them:
Spoiler: 03. Conia (Shiratori)
Something is missing...
You are feeling strange. Like you should have been someone else. Like if someone stole your identity. And aren't some of you clothes missing? Or maybe you are just imagining things?
Objective:Arrest another player for disguising, or have another member of the police arrest him/her. The arrested could be Kid, Vermouth or Yukiko.
Reward:You will learn their identity, their disguise and whom they took their disguise(s) from.
Failture:You will fail your task when there is no more KID, Vermouth or Yukiko in the game.
Punishment:none
Spoiler: 20. delsie29 (Satô)

Both POs were identical. Both were not completed. What advantage did it give? They knew that there was at least one disguised person in the game. With no way to find out that there was no KID in the game they always risked arresting a townie. The task itself was pretty hard as well.
No advantage in this POs.


Spoiler: 04. Kleene Onigiri (Mitsuhiko)
Proving yourself
You want to impress your friends. Everyone of them. To do so, you must show that you are able to work like a real Detective, without the help of people smarter than you.
Objective: Succesfully identify any other player before Ayumi (PhoneixTears) completed her own task.
Reward:You will finally be acknowledged. And you will be able to use "Investigate 2" during the nights afterwards.
Failture:You will fail your tasks if Ayumi finds your friends (who will surely try to help you with their knowledge) before you completed your own task.
Punishment:The next day you will feel discouraged. You will be treated like you were frightened by Tequila.
Kleene finished the task quickly, during day 2. She was able to do 2 investigation on night 3 (both negative) before she was killed on night 4. So this also had little to none influence on the game.

Spoiler: 06. PhoenixTears (Ayumi)
Friendship and courage
YOu are working together with Mitsuhiko and Genta is out of town. But what about teh Professor and Ai-chan? And Conan-kun? Maybe they could need some help? Or maybe they could help you?
Objective:Try to use identify on any player who is either Agasa, Haibara or Conan. You don't have to guess their identity correctly. (If the player Schillok was Conan, you could try to "Identify if Schillok is Takagi" and you will still be able to finish your task.
Reward:Using identify on such a player will tell you their correct role. It only works on the first time you succeed, so even if you identify another player with a "friendly role" (Haibara, Conan, Agasa) later, you will not be notified.
Failture:If no more Haibara, Conan or Agasa are in play, you fail your task.
Punishment:Failing would mean that (some of them) were killed... You will feel very sad the following day and be treated like you were frightened by Tequila.
Conflicting with Kleenes task. If they had found one of those characters mentioned here before Mitsuhiko had finished, they risked failing the identification the next day.
In the game they identified Haibara with it. However at that time they also checked "Dus is Haibara", so there was absolutely no advantage in this task in the game.

Spoiler: 08. Abs. (James)
Busy, busy
All your agents are ready to be deployed, the BO is moving into possition and the big confrontation will beginn soon. You are too busy now for anything to get into your way.
Objective:Do not get discomboboulated or frightened during the first 3 nights and days.
Reward:You will get a random report from each of your subordinates still alive at the beginning of night 4. You wil only learn their action during one of the nights, but not which players your subordinates are or from which night the report was from.
Failture:You are getting discomboboulated or frightend during that time.
Punishment:You will have to work down the pilled up work during the next phase. If you got frightened you will not be able to use your abilities during the next night. If you got discomboboulated you will not be allowed to partcipate in the lynch vote the following day.

As FBI leader Abs already knew that all of his 3 subordinates are in the game. Not getting disturbed for 3 nights was pretty hard, considering there were 2 tricksters out there. And the BO had narrowed down his identity quickly. Yes Abs finished his PO - right the night before he was killed by APTX. I think at that point he did not get any "new" information. Also to mention that Holmes never did an action, so he only received reports from Jodie and Camel.

Spoiler: 09. Sherlock3 (Conan)
Dangerous Dance with the BO
To keep those close to you, you will risk everything. Even your own life.
Objective: Have the BO trying to kill you in any way (either by nightly killing or by APTX) - and survive! You will need someone to heal or protect you, or to distract or arrest your killer during the night. Or make them waste and APTX on you by having them think you are someone else or be protected by Kazuhas charm.
Reward:You will get a Stun-Gun Watch that will protect you from being killed (except by snipers) during the night. You will keep the watch until you had to use it. You will also get another charm that will protect you from poison, which you will also keep with you until teh BO tried to poison you again.
Failture: You get yourself killed.
Punishment: You are the strongest weapon of the town... everyone will surely miss you. 
Never finished it. He got snipped... No advantage for the town, once more.


Spoiler: 10. Edogawa4869 (Eisuke)
Paradoxon
"May NOT discombobulate themselves, because it will discombobulate the GM." - excerpt from the rules
Objective: Create a discomboboulating paradoxon by discomboboulating another discomboboulating player with discomboboulate or become discomboboulating by another player with discomboboulat yourself. ::)
Reward:You will know the identity of the other player.
Failture: You fail your task if no more players with discomboboulate except for yourself are in play.
Punishment: none
Gave the knowledge there is another role with discombobulate in the game. Might have suggested that the BO has Vodka in their ranks (but they didn't).
The task was never finished.

Spoiler: 11. CTU (Araide)
Feinted Death
Your live had been threatened by the BO before, but you were saved by the FBI at that time. Why shouldn't things work again that way?
Objective:Get "killed" during night 1 or night 2.
Reward: Your body will be "missing", town will think you were erased and only the BO will know something went wrong. You will have to follow the same rules as a normal dead player (Can't talk, no actions, no voting). However, once your murderer is being arrested or killed, you will be able to return to the town and continue playing normaly.
Failture: Get not killed by the BO. Or get killed by lynching or APTX.
Punishment: You will not die if they don't kill you. ::) Or you are dead if you were killed during the day.
Well, this was one PO that screwed the BO over. But mainly because they could not trust each others because of their secret POs. Again, this was a flaw of the BOs PO, not of the town ones.
In a normal game, CTU would likely healed himself during night 1. The outcome - him surviving and knowing that he was the target for that night - would have been the same.
Only difference that his PO removed him from the game for as long as Vermouth was still around. Which was not long, though.

Spoiler: 12. Commi-Ninja (Sonoko)
Center of Attention
You are used to be in the spotlights. Actually, that is the time you shine most. It gives you confidence and allows you to show your true abilities. Talking about abilities... after befriending Agent Black you picked up some of the skills of his subordinates. Maybe you should try observing other players as well?!?
Objective: Become the center of attention for one night = Become the target of 6 or more night actions from different players during the same night.
Reward: You will feel confident enough to try "Observing" yourself starting with the following night, allowing you to find out the age and gender of other players.
Failture: You will fail your task if there are 6 or less players (including yourself) left in the game.
Punishment: The BO will get the results as if they observed you themselves (= female teenager).
Another hard objective that was never completed. No advantage from this PO, either.

Spoiler: 13. breva (Kobayashi-sensei)
"Now I know my ABCs"
Teaching is your life. Even in a crisis you can't stop doing it. So time to teach your pupils the western alphabet.
Objective: Start each with your sentences in the thread with the letters of the alphabet in the correct order. (Start your first sentence with "A", the second sentence with "B" and so on, until you reach "Z").
Each sentence must start with a capital letter. You are not allowed to have any sentence starting with another letter in between.
However, you are allowed to interrupt the order at any time and continue in your next post. (If you put the letters A-F into your first post, you can continue with "G" in the next one and so on.)
If you interrupt the order, you have to start with "A" again. Once you are done, write me a PM giving the link to the first post that starts your sequence.
When you are done you can continue talking normaly.

Reward: You will be told whom of your pupils (Ayumi, Mitushiko, Genta, Ai, Conan) are in the game. Your pupils will be told that "Kobayashi-sensei tried to teach them something". They will have to figure it out themselves that you are Kobayashi-sensei.
Faiture: You will fail your quest if anyone notices that your posting is "odd" or figures out what you have to do. Keep your task to yourself. Note that the people in the thread will be given some time to notice before you succeed in completing your task. You will also fail if all of your pupil are out of the game before you completed your task.
Punishment: During the next phase change it be noted that you behave strangely.
Not even attempted. So it was never completed. The advantage if breva did? Not that big...

Spoiler: 15. shihokudo (Camel)

Same PO as CTU, just for different phases. Was not killed, so the PO failed after night 4. Zero influence on the game.

Spoiler: 16. Hakuba (nomemory)
The enemy of my enemy...
Catching Kaito Kid is important, but right now there are more important things at hand... Beside, you know by chance that Kaito Kid is not in Japan as well. Maybe you can use that information to your advantage?
Objective: Make the BO believe you are Kaito Kid! Get them to poison you as the international thief 1412 instead of your true identity.
To help you achive that you can "fake steal" from other people. Stealing is a crime, but pretending to do so... not. At least that is what you tell yourself. (Fake stealing will not take away an item from your target and you can't be arrested for it.)
Reward: You will get the APTX the BO tried to use on you. You can use it to produce an antidote for yourself (You can not be poisoned for the rest of the game), or use it against any other player (including BO) during the day.
Failture: Your gamble is risky... but other than the BO not falling for your scheme you can not fail.
Punishment: none
Since the BO had not a single method for investigation they would never had fallen for the "fake steal" themselves. And since fake steal did not take an item it had no advanage for nomemory either. The only thing it did was telling nomemory that there was no KID in the game - and at the same time it risked messing with one of the 3 police in the game if they tried to arrest him.
The BO knew there was no KID in the game as well... So of course they never APTXed him, and his task was never completed. So beside the knowledge about KID there was no advantage in this one either.

Spoiler: 17. Haibara (Dus)
Mysterious Mail
You have been sent a mysterious letter from... unknown. It is heavily encrypted, but you think you will be able to figure out what it says with some work. However you need to fully concentrate on that task... almost impossible, now that the BO had moved into the town.
Objective: Concentrate one night on decryption. You will succeed if noone targets you with ANY night ability.
Reward: You will know what was written in the letter. It might contain important information.
Failture: You will try every night - however the longer it takes the more likely it becomes that the information in the letter become outdated.
Punishment: none 
I admit, I screwed up with this one latter in the game. It was supposed to allow a cooperation between Haibara and Akemi so they could win the game together with Haibaras friends... but since Akemis tasked failed, it kind of backfired. Read the GM log if you want.  ::)
Again, at this time I believe the town already knew about Akemi.

Spoiler: 18. Agasa (James Rye)
Failed Antidote... or maybe not?!?
You had worked on an Antidote to APTX4869 in secret - you didn't want to get the hopes of Shinichi-kun too high. Like expected it was a failture... However you noticed that it will give you (and only you) the same immunity as Shinichi and Shiho: You would shrink.
Objective: Get poisoned by the BO successfully without them noticing that you want to be poisoned. If they notice your odd behaviour they will likely observe you... and kill you in the defenceless state while you are shrinking or take the antidote away from you.
Reward: You will become GENTA. Genta is with his grandparents and out of town, so you can take his place as an Detective Boy instead. When you were youngh you looked similary to him.  If there are other DBs still in the game you will group up with them. If not, you are on your own. When you become Genta you can be killed by APTX if they use it on you again (either as "Agasa" or "Genta"), so be careful!
Failture: If the BO notices you want to be poisoned, you will fail your task and be killed by the poison normaly.
Punishment: none
One of the reasons why I wanted to listen to the BOs communications. You never suspected any trickery from James Ryes side so his tasked succeed, costing the BO one APTX. But in turn he lost the ability to hand out his gadgets, so it was not completely wasted in the end.
Remember though, that the BO had some APTX remaining during the last day, so the impact on the game might not have been that strong as it seems on the first glance.

Spoiler: 19. Holmes (Akai)
Sacrifice
You are ready to give everything it takes to bring down the BO. Everything.
Objective: Get killed by an BO with who has an *Intrigue as their task during the night. (Intrigues are tasks that might be directed against other BO members.)
Reward: Your body will be "missing", the town will think you were erased and only the BO will learn your identity and know something went wrong. You will have to behave like a normal dead player (no lynch voting, only 1 post per day, no talking about the game, no contact to other players). However, you are still allowed to investigate5 at night. At any point during the game you may "return" and participate normaly in the game. Just don't expect to last long with the BO knowing you are back...
Failture: Getting killed by a BO who is not distracted by an intrigue will... well, kill you normaly.
Punishment: You are dead. You will stay dead.
Holmes never did a single action and was not killed. So this PO had no influence at all on the game.


[spoiler=21.KainTheVampire (Jodie)
Setting up a Trap
You are trying to lure out the BO with your own life. A dangerous gamble, but you did not become a FBI agent for nothing!
Objective: Catch a BO! Once during the game you are allowed to "set up a trap" at night. Your fellow FBI colegues will protect you from being killed during that night. If a BO tries to kill you during that particular night, you will survive and the attacker will be auto-arrested instead.
Reward: An arrested BO member should be enough of a reward, don't you think so? ::P
Failture: You will fail if you were attacked by a sniper - the sniper will kill you and escape the trap. You will also fail if the BO does not attack you during the night you set up your trap.
Punishment: The BO will be notified that someone had used FBI agents to set up a trap for them. They will also be notified that this was a once-per-game action.
Kain was one of the lovers, so he(?) had a much more dangerous life than most other townies. The trap would only have worked if he predicted the right night. And of course not getting himself or his lover lynched or APTXed before, or if Eisuke had been killed...
The result of this task: The trap failed, because the BO killed someone else. Influence on the game: none.

Spoiler: 22. Kaia (Kazuha)
Alone?
You lost contact to Heiji and the Moris. Even worse, you are now in Beika completely alone. Better find out where everyone is, right?
Objective: Find out who of the following people is in the game: Heiji, Kogoro, Ran, Conan. You don't have to figure out who they are, just if they are ingame. Write the GM (me) a PM when you want to guess the correct solution.[/b]
Reward: If you are correct, you will be told the identity of one of them. They will not know about your identity though.
Failture: You have to give your answer before the end of the 3rd day. If you fail to give an answer - or if your answer was wrong - you will also fail your task.
Punishment: The BO will be told that they observe a "teenage girl is walking around the streets alone and in confusion" during the next night.
Kaia failed the task. Conan was already dead at that point and the only thing she got to know was: The combination "Kogoro = in game, Heiji = in game, Ran = not in game"  was wrong. Decide for yourself how much an influence this had on the game...

Spoiler: 25. Parkur (Makoto)
Things more important than sports
So far, sports have been your life. However... you also worry about your girlfriend Sonoko. You would feel much better if you knew that she is well... and what she is doing. You should hurry to find her, since the BO seems to be targeting everyone now.

Objective: Find Sonoko before the end of day 3. Send a PM with the player you think is Sonoko to the GM at any time. You can only send one PM, if it is wrong you fail your task.
Reward: You form a group - similar to lovers - with Sonoko and whoever she befriended. You will both have each others identities be confirmed by the GM. If one of you dies, the others can continue to play.
Failure: You fail your task if Sonoko is killed, if you suspect the wrong player or did not reply until the end of day 3.
Punishment: You will be shaken by your inability to find Sonoko and will be unable to do anything during the next two phases.


Tasked failed and prevented parkur from protecting for 2 phases. In turn he at least knew there was a Sonoko in the game.
Still, it seems more like an disadvantage to trade this information for 2 phases of "suspension".


Spoiler: 26. Crap4869 (Asami)
"I'm Eisuke!"
You love to play pranks on people and you figured it might be useful during a time like this. Not everyone will agree with you, though...

Objective: Get arrested. Then claim to be Eisuke (and try to prove it, somehow) 3 times in a single phase. Prevent spamming the thread.
Reward: You will be released from prison just as if "lawsuit" had been used on you.
Failture: If anyone shows that you can't be Eisuke, you will fail your task. And remain in prison. So... maybe it is better to not become arrested in the first place?
Punishment: none 


More like a running gag than an actual task.  ::)
Was not arrested in the game. So... the task was never completed. And considering the real Eisuke was also in the game, getting out of jail with this method seemed unreliable.



Spoiler: 27. Xcommando (Yukiko)
Encore, encore!
You are a great actress... and you feel like nothing can stop you this week. Maybe you can try for an encore?

Objective: Do not get discomboboulated or frightened during the first 4 nights and 3 days and use all of your disguises during that time.
Reward: After you have proven your skills you feel confident that you can try one more role. You may use the disguise of Officer Satô once later in the game.
Failture: You are getting discomboboulated or frightend during that time.
Punishment: none


Yukiko got killed right during her first performance as Shinichi. So she had never a chance to complete her PO. No influence on the game at all.


Spoiler: 28. Paix672 (Yumi)
Learning from the Pros
You are just a traffic officer and not that good in investigating yet. Maybe watching someone who knows how it is done can give you a few hints?
Objective: Successfully investigate another player investigating. It does not matter who you investigated, or if it was a "fake" or "special" investigation.
Reward: You will be able to use Investigate: 3 instead of Investigate: 2 for the rest of the game.
Failture: It is never to late to learn. You can't fail this task.
Punishment: none


I remember there were discussions about giving Yumi the same number of investigations as other police. Well, here was my answer to that.
The task finished... but during the same night Paix became injured so he was never able to use the additional investigation.




Now, that you have seen how all POs of the town performed in the game... who still thinks that the BO lost because of them?

As a BO from the last game I don't think the problem was with the POs and it's definitely not the reason we lost. Beastly supposedly didn't receive our pms, though I don't know if it's because after day 6 Pofa and I were just pming each other since we thought Beastly had betrayed us. We both contacted him. The BO po's actually tore the BO apart this game, mainly Pofa was looking for a traitor...or whatever. And didn't trust us. I'll admit I failed mine since I gave it to Pofa, not the GM pm, but what I read, though I totally read it wrong and thought I only had three days to do it. I was sick, give me a break. But I think the BO needs something a bit different, with just detect I could tell who was in the game yes, but it doesn't do much else, though that's getting looked into in the mafia thread anyways. ^^ I would like to play with POs again honestly, but the BO's need either to be able to share thier's or the town can't share theirs. I think is what it best comes down too honestly.

Thank you Schillok for trying it out. That was a very weak BO mixture though. :-\

Ah, so it was Parkur who was actually looking for Sonoko!  :D

Two of the town POs negatively affected the BO:
  • CTU didn't actually die - waste of a night kill
  • James Rye didn't actually die - waste of an APTX
But the BO would have had a hard time winning the round, even without POs.  Without POs, the police would not have gotten injured and would have been able to make arrests.

THE SINGLE MOST DEBILITATING THING for the BO group in any round is this:

Lack of communication

- invariably, at least one BO will "disappear" or not be around close enough to the phase change to change their action

In this round, it seemed it may have been more pronounced because 1) Beastly, and 2) BO might not have trusted each other enough (due to PO confusion) to give control of their actions to another BO player that would be online close to phase change.

I agree with Abs. but Sebs did the same thing too. Maybe the next time we have POs, Anokata/mafia leader could get the list like he hands them out or something, and only those two can know if you want to keep it a secret. Tommy did some odd things too so you know.

well we are not trust each other.. and i was the one who discover that townie can talk about their PO in open.

i must forge a fake ones.. and yell at my teammates about this.

the PO is not bad. heck i am great.. 5 injured peorson!!! yay! but the part of we cant talk to others bo is the hard way.

I also don't think the BO lost because of the POs.  Since the town knew there are lovers, we also had thought some people could be BO/town lovers. That's why some people still mistrusted others ;P

And since the BO had beastly in it, with or without the PO, the BO would have thought they have a traitor in their ranks anyway :P *speaks from experience*

@DT: You didn't even know Eve wasn't playing, and you wonder why you lost? :P XD
