In the last faceoff, "Countdown to Heaven" beat "Strategy Above the Depths". This time, in the final battle of the whole contest, we have:

Movie 5: Countdown to Heaven

vs.

Movie 6: The Phantom of Baker Street

The current bracket:

ps: there's no third place contest because it would be pointless to see SAtD get crushed.

We all know Countdown to Heaven will win for no reason, why bother? *sigh*

Seriously, I don't get it. It was a generic (but very good) 2 part AO case with movie animation, OOC Haibara, Gin and Vodka doing nothing, and tons of explosions added in.

Sorry But that case could take place in ONE AO.

I think you just listed all the reasons why it should at least win over Phantom.

And Phantom was a much more generic AO rip off of a non case that's only twist was something that had been done in a previous movie, OOC setting (I mean super virtual reality? This isn't Magic Kaito). Yusaku solving a case (that was shown completely beforehand) and that honestly even the Detective Boys could have figured out. Toss in a underdeveloped premise, pretentious social commentary, and not enough scenes that make you think "Hey they are old London, Holmes time." Let's not forget that the only chance they ever had to put Conan and Holmes together working on a case and they just write him out of the whole thing.

Heaven is nothing but action fluff and the most annoying Haibara scenes ever, not to mention every one of those Haibara scenes were better done in cannon cases (The bus jacking and the tapes Haibara eventually gets). But, out of both of these movies, Heaven acutally gives you want you want in a movie about explosions and the Black Organization. Even if the mystery and plot takes a back seat. The Black Organization involvement here was far better than in The Raven Chaser, As they were very much more in character, and by that I mean not so bluntly acting.

Both of these movies I honestly think deserved to be eliminated in the first round, As I found them both to be sub-par. But Heaven is that kind of sub-par you don't mind since it's just got a lot of action.

Eww, what is with the hating for Countdown?
It is the best Detective-Boys centric movie out there but still balanced enough to also leave room for other characters and the plot. It had mysterious murders and a mystery behind the mystery. (Like most movies I guess...)

And most important: It gave Ayumi (especially Ayumi) and even Mitsuhiko and Genta some good scenes that shows that they are not just "useless stupid kids that drag Conan (and/or Haibara) down".

I think it is the best movie out there. So it deserves to win in the end.

I agree with you. Its surprising that these two ended up in the finals. Well, since Countdown won against Strategy, I'm voting for it...

agreed, these two are my least favourites, but I think they are better than 9-13.
