I'm just saying that because in all the polls both Shinichi/Conan and Ai are above Ran, and since even on this website ShinRan has more fans than AiConan (see the thread about that), most of the Shinichi/Conan fans would vote for Ran if she were to be up against Ai.

you never know that for sure. true, many people that voted for shinichi may choose ran over ai when a contest is conducted, but this does not guarantee that they voted her just because she is shinichi's partner.. :)

anyways, enough for that, i hate it when doing arguments with other people.... who'd you voted? :D

Ran does have a fanboy faction. I remember her making a top 10 sex appeal Oricon list a few years ago. Probably just another reason for the haters here to hate on her, though.

Still, for this poll, those current 3 votes for Ran is for Ran. So I don't think this applies for those 3 votes D:

If it's just ShinRan vs. AiCon poll, then you have less options to choose from. So yes, that's true then. But some of those shinichi/conan fans could vote for ai instead of ran too then :p

Currently it's:
1. Ai
2./3. Conan and Gin

It's obvious that not all of Ran's "fans" vote for her because of her couple with Shinichi, otherwise she wouldn't be in the top 8 of the favorite character polls. But a fair amount of people who like Ran like her because of her love story with Shinichi (among, perhaps, other reasons, ).

I don't know about the others but i dislike Ran NOT because of this list, i don't even know about it. I just check some sites about this Oricon list : It conducted in 2007, 1,000 men and women were asked, Ran ranked 9th.

Not sure if this is true, but i noticed a lot of peoples who have Ran as their favorite character are mostly ShinRan, but for who have Ai as their favorite, they're either ShinRan, AiCon or natural.

Fair amount = most Shinichi/Conan fans.

You do realize that what I'm saying is by no means pejorative ? People are free to like who they want for whatever reason. I'm just trying to explain why, according to me, the results of the polls are what they are.

i'm just saying that we have different observations :)
you say many shinran like ran because of her couple with shinichi, i say many shinran like ran as an individual not only because she's shinichi's partner. then that's it. people differ in opinion because we have diferent eyes...:)

(I'm glad that conan and shinichi aren't separate characters though, then I'd have a tough time deciding!)

I also really, really like Heiji, Akai, Jodie, Ran, Ai, Takagi and Kid.

(What? I have a lot of favorite characters. >>)

In all the poll I saw,Ai has more votes than Ran...even some Shinran fans prefer Ai as a character more than Ran...
anyway Ran is a good character too(I like her a lot),but I think her popularity is due to her romance with Shinichi...

Well, partly to avoid the 'Shinichi/Ran/Haibara is the best~!' and partly due to his character traits I voted Takagi, however my second and third choices (again, avoiding S/R/H) would have been Kogoro and... hmmm, Jugo Yokomizo or Eri. So Kogoro only just missed out on my vote.
(I've got reasons why I chose those characters, I'm just too tired to put them all down right now)
