Moonlight as well. I found 521-523 boring and the animation was horrible.

Even though I'm a Heiji and ShinRan fan I voted Moonlight Sonata since I liked that one more.

Yeah, Moonlight Sonata is one of the best early cases from what I hear around. Despite that, I'll still go with 521-23; though I enjoyed the mystery behind Moonlight Sonata more.Yamamura wrote: Is Moonlight Sonata really that highly regarded? I figured it would take something more than a regular good episode to really fight off a Shinichi episode.

Moonlight Sonata is one of the best cases period, I'll use my sister as evidence. She had not seen Case Closed since it ended on Adult Swim, she remembered almost nothing about the show, but she remembered Moonlight Sonata and everything about it (I recently bought the first two seasons on DVD).
The only case she remembered, and it's proof that this case was so well written. May I also mention that I feel this case still weighs on Conan to date, at around episode 72 they find that pot of oil, Heiji said something to the effect of just letting her kill herself. But Conan said that driving a person to suicide with their deduction was murder, and you can really see that Shinichi still feels responsible for Seiji's death.
It's also so unique compared to most cases where Conan stops the bad guy, reveals the murderer, ect. Seiji escapes (I'll admit this part was a bit jarring, as you have to believe that he managed to run out and set that huge fire while everyone was awestruck and listening to Conan). But it payed off, as you got to see some of the best scenes in DC in my opinion.
Murderer, Kudo Shinichi was alright, It was pretty cool, but I mean, there are much better episodes and cases where Shinichi reappears. I'll admit that the premise of a once fanboy turned insane guy was pretty cool, and when he finds out it was all a mistake on his part, you did feel for the guy.

Looks like it was one sided after all, just not the way I thought it would be.

Never underestimate the power of nostalgia! A lot of people on these forums tend to prefer older episodes and movies (to a degree at least).Yamamura wrote: Looks like it was one sided after all, just not the way I thought it would be.

So Yamamura made a wrong assumption? Shocking. =P

I don't think 11 will get past 309-311.

Fun fact: My avatar was briefly the locker opening scene from 311.Wakarimashita wrote: I don't think 11 will get past 309-311.
Also, I think it will be close. I like 309-311 a lot, but I think there are a fair number of people who will support Moonlight Sonata over all but the top BO cases.

Gosho just doesn't write stories like the Moonlight Sonata case, anymore. The big twist in the end was more of a stunner than in the Shinichi case, in my eyes. The Moonlight Sonata case wins, easily.
