I don't think Ai is going to take the permanent antidote in the end. She has nothing to live for as an adult. Even if she loves Shinichi, Shinichi loves Ran and Ran in loves Shinichi return so there is no happiness to be gained by trying to insert herself into their relationship. Her sister and parents are dead and she will be wanted for her crimes as an adult. All her relationships with people have been created in her Ai form, and aging would put a damper on some of them, especially the DB ones which she treasures. I think she will choose to start over again as a child.

if that's the case that means she's going to run away again...from her past.
it's like not wanting to start a new life,and choosing the easier solution(staying as a child and not being able to build up a new life as shiho miyano)
people act as if she can't be close to the DB and stay with agasa if she become Shiho...
I would be very happy if she takes the antidote,it would be a proof of courage,(even if she takes the risk of being juged for what she did)...that would show how much she changed...

It is more a sign of resignation if she takes the antidote. It means she would be running away from what she experienced during the last year - which was probably the happiest year in her life so far, if you ignore losing Akemi. Even if she stayed with Agasa and the DB it would mean that she increased the distance between herself and them again.
If she takes the antidote it would be as a kind of punishment for herself - she doesn't deserve happiness for what she did when she was still in the BO so she is giving up her live as Ai Haibara to return being Shiho.

You're missing the point here. Shinichi will end up with Ran, and if Haibara stays a child, the only candidate for her is Mitsu. True, we can't rule out the possibility that someone else will come, but then we're basically inventing a character, which is stupid and is even more absurd than pairing characters for no reason. "fan coupling" can be used only with the tools that Gosho gives us, and in this case (if no other character will show up), Mitsuhiko is the only one to be paired with Haibara (unless, you think Ayumi or Genta are any better for Ai  )

I think you have the wrong idea about "character development"
In real life, can we overcome all of our problems or conflicts? no. The same can be applied for characters in a story (at least for secondary characters, since we expect the main characters to overcome all the problems the story presents for them). Ai doesn't have to overcome all of her problems, Ai is allowed to run away and she's allowed to be selfish if it means being happy.
Ai's past is a dark one, if "running away from it" and staying a child will give her more happiness, why wouldn't she do so then? I guess you're thinking "Shiho should not run away from her past and try to find happiness as Shiho and not as Ai" however it's not easy at all. After all of what Ai has been through, she's allowed to be happy in the "easier" way.

I advise watching Asatte no Hoko and then compare between Shouko and Haibara.

I also think Haibara will choose to stay as a kid. And she actually proved that she doesn't run away anymore. Because she didn't choose to take the offer from the FBI.

And she has 2 fake lives anyway. One is being in her normal body being Sherry and working for the Org. The other is being small and running away from the Org. She wasn't able to live a normal live an being herself anyway.
So whether she chooses to stay a kid or turn back into her normal body is not running away imo.
But when the Org is gone and she can choose, she'll probably go for being a child (since she never had a normal childhood).
But if the DBs gets to know who she really is anyway, she could  decide to become normal again. Because in that case she can talk to the DBs even if she becomes big again.

And anyway. AixCon fans also pair ran up with Eisuke, just so that Ran loves someone else and Shinichi is "free" for Ai

I only wanted to say that I'm angry,everytime his name appear when we only are talking about Shinran and coai (like in this thread) ...it sound like "Mitsuhiko loves Haibara so she doesn't need to be with conan who only loves Ran"and that's what a lot of shinran think,as if mitsuhiko was the consolation prize...

so assuming her responsabilities,living in her true appearance in order to start a new life is resignation?great...
I think the temptation is to stay as a child because she already has a home,a family,some friends...and resisting to this temptation of easyness is hard especially for her who had a really sad life...but she learnt not to run away from her fate(conan,ayumi) and fac her problems...
taking the antidote isn't a punishment...it's for her the opportunity to face her difficulties,her fears,in order to build a new life as Shiho miyano,without lying to everybody,or being forced to act like a child... it would be a kind of revenge over the BO,even if they ruined her life,she'd have the courage to move on her way...

so for you if she doesn't stay as a child she won't never be happy again?she won't be able to have any good friends? in that case she would be way too dependant on the DB and Agasa
besides,I'm sure if whe stays with Agasa in her true form he'd accept her and live with her without creating a distance between them...only her look will change,not her personality same thing with the DB,they would consider her as an older sister,and that's the role she has now as Haibara,an older sister who teach them things about life and care for them...

then again,that's only my opinion,I still think like you,that she won't take the antidote,because it's easier that way for Gosho...
