Ayumi and Ran are actually quite different.  Ayumi is definitely more open to her crush on Conan, as opposed to Ran when she was younger.  Plus, Ran's got that karate and cooking skills.  Ayumi..while is a nice 7 year old girl (I can't believe I just said that, someone kill me), doesn't really have any pizzazz that make her stand out.

Then again we are talking about DC character depth here where our main character's only flaw is that he's tone deaf.  But, a genius in everything else, including music.

Bottomline, despite Ran and Ayumi being, pretty shallow characters (typical little anime girl and typical main shounen female lead (winry-status) + manga authors who think girls just bawl their eyes out), Ayumi is not a mini-Ran.

Can I get a round of applause for actually saying something somewhat positive about Ran?

Ran didn't have feelings for him when she was younger- at least she didn't KNOW he did. It's said in the New York arc that THAT was when she realized she had feelings for him.

This video right here shows EXACTLY how similar Ayumi and Ran are. XD We call her a mini Ran not because she is similar to adult Ran but she is instead similar to a very young 7-year-old Ran. :3 Therefor Ayumi, when 17- may actually kick some @$$.
