Overall, I don't really mind the Detective Boys. Yes, Ayumi can be overly-cute and Genta is occasionally annoying, but I remember kids like that in my classes. (Okay, so maybe not quite so archetypal....) I even genuinely like some of the episodes they're in. (And, yes, I realize I will probably be killed off at some point for actually admitting to this. ::) )
When I think of the Detective Boys, I tend to focus more on the three children - Ayumi, Genta and Mitsuhiko. Conan has the entire series to himself and Haibara is active in the main plot/BO-arc. It seems unfair to group them in with the Detective Boys when they have such extensive roles.
Out of the remaining three Detective Boys, my favourite would be Mitsuhiko, followed closely by Ayumi with Genta trailing behind.
Hence, I voted Mitsuhiko.

Buuut wasn't it because of Conan that they became the Detective Boys? So technically it would be unfair not to include him and if he is in a poll with them he needs fair competition and Haibara is a member so...

I don't feel coherent enough to actually go check the manga chapters, but if I remember correctly, the way they originally joined together wasn't completely reliant on Conan. I think of it more as Conan being what holds them together as a cohesive group in the early days. It probably wouldn't have lasted long if they weren't actually solving cases, and that's mostly due to Conan's influence.
So, yeah, he's an important - possibly even integral - part of the group. And if you include Conan, then it's only fair to include Haibara. In that respect, I conceed the point.
My vote is still going to Mitsuhiko, though. ;)

Amused by all the people who complain so bitterly about the Detective Boys. Even if they're not always completely serious in their complaints, it still makes me laugh.

I voted Conan because he's in the DB's group. But if there were only the 3 kids, I would vote Ayumi.
So, if we take out Conan & Haibara, my favorite DB: Ayumi, then Mitsuhiko. Genta can die.
