Hey Everyone!

Postby Dak » December 5th, 2015, 1:10 am

My name's Chad, I'm a junior in college in the U.S. and I'm studying to become a physical therapist. Lately, I play lots of video games and keep up with the latest sports (NCAAF, NHL, NFL). Also e-sport-wise I follow the CS:GO scene and play a little myself from time to time. I've been following Detective Conan since 5th grade (2005?) in the Adult Swim days, and stopped around episode 520 where a fake Shinichi is suspected of murder.

About a week ago, I heard that Crunchyroll had started subbing the series and decided to check an episode out. When the intro song started, I recognized it was a Nazo cover and just felt this indescribable nostalgia. It made me realize what an impact the show has had on me and how it reminds me of my childhood. Because of that, I'm back to pickup where I've left off.

Due to my curiosity, I already watched some of the main arks to see how the plot has progressed. But now I don't really know where to begin. I could start from the episode 500 area, but honestly I can't remember the majority of prior episodes cause I was so young. Should I just start over from episode 1? Either way, I will be far off from everyone else on the forum, and you probably won't see many of my posts. But I just wanted to greet everyone because so far this community seems truly amazing. I hope everyone is doing well, and look forward to reading your Conan insight! :)

Hey Chad!

Welcome to the DCTP!

I think You rather should just watch the manga based episodes. The rest are fillers and do not contribute to the plot at all. The manga plot itself also didn't move forward much (and You will find here plenty of people who will say that it didn't move at all), so if You have any recollection of what happened up until the episode 500, then I think You rather should be fine. However, I would suggest You rewatching the Clash of Red and Black, because You might need to remember the events that happened there.

For episodes that are based on manga look there: http://www.detectiveconanworld.com/wiki/Anime

EDIT: I also would suggest You (after watching the most recent episode based on manga) starting to read the manga, unless You want to wait centuries until they will catch up. Gosho recently been hospitalized, so expect a lot of fillers...

Rewatching wouldn't be a bad idea at all.

Also, welcome.

Welcome, Chad! :D

“Friendship is like standing on wet cement. The longer you stay, the harder it's to leave, and you can never go without leaving your footprints behind.” - Unknown

“If you don't go after what you want, you'll never have it. If you don't ask, the answer is always no. If you don't step forward, you're always in the same place.” - Nora Roberts

"Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things." - Robert Brault

"Time is an equal opportunity employer. Each human being has exactly the same number of hours and minutes every day. Rich people can't buy more hours. Scientists can't invent new minutes. And you can't save time to spend it on another day. Even so, time is amazingly fair and forgiving. No matter how much time you've wasted in the past, you still have an entire tomorrow." - Denis Waitley
