I finished watching the 1st season if Lupin (green jacket). I have to say, at first I liked it, because of thouht Lupin was super smart (like in the episode where he deduces the tricks the magician uses or how he got out of prison). Then, he episode became lamer IMO and Lupin dumber and goofier, all was just a succession of gags and violence. I was pretty disappointed.
Now, I'm asking if the red jacket series is better, and if Lupin is more of an Arsène Lupin or a goofy James Bond?

this isn't a very heavily-traveled part of the forum

Anyway, I can't say for the series itself as I've only watched the movies + specials, but the goofy aspect certainly stays, I'd say he's more of a guy who wants to be Arsene and steal stuff, but always ends up having to play the James Bond role and keep an evil plot from unfolding.

I haven't watched the full anime, so no idea whether the red jacket is better or worse

The Red Jacket series is FAR better than the first. Highly, highly recommended.

The specials are also great. I recommend watching 2004 first (Stolen Lupin).

Well, I liked watching the Lupin III vs. Detective Conan...it was new and cool. I enjoyed it, but I've never seen the Lupin III episodes...maytbe I will...just because. xD
