Which do you prefer when watching anime, english subs or english dubs?

I prefer english dubs, but I will watch an anime english subbed if an english dub does not exist.

Note: I pretend that all Animax-Asia dubs don't exist, since they are very terrible dubs, in my opinion.

Well, for me, it's English Subs.. Japanese Seiyuus fit the characters more than English Dubbers, imho XD.. when i first watched DC, it's Case Closed and I don't feel well with it... AND i love DCTP, AZFS, Kienai, Atavus, MCT  and other Anime Fansubbing groups out there.. and also i love to watch anime eps which really came from their native land...

I beg to differ. :-X

English subs, because I'm a fast reader. I know a lot of people who prefer dubs because they can't, or are too lazy to, read the subs.

And I'm too traumatized with voices that are different from the original seiyuus. Filipino dubs are simply horrible.

English SUBS, because the sound and the mouth movement will be different if it's english dubbed, and there are a lot of japanese pun that doesn't make sense if they are dubbed into other language.

Essentially, that.

Besides the weird localizations some shows get. :-X

Subs, for the reasons Feb914 and Commi said.

For everything that I've seen both the English dub and English sub of, the subs are 1000x better. And in the case of some, it feels like a completely different anime when it's dubbed, even though it's the same characters and everything. :|

It really depends. If it's new or I can't find the dub I'll watch subbed and if it the dub is blatantly inferior I'll watch subbed but that's about it. I tend to watch dubbed more often than not as japanese voice acting is often overrated.

I prefer English subs. The only real exception is Cowboy Bebop. ;D

It depends. If I like how the English actors sound and they don't cut any scenes out or make to many changes I will watch the dub. If no dub exist or the dub doesn't meet my expectations I will watch it subbed. If my parents are home and I don't want them to understand what I am watching I will watch it subbed.

depends. For the most part, I watch subs, but other things I watch the dubs for (I always watch Miyazaki movies with their dubs, I think I watched the GitS dubs also, some others).

Subs, for the most part, since I like to watch shows in their native language.  Although there are a few like the Studio Ghibli films & Evangelion that I'll watch dubs of.

English subs definitely. I NEVER EVER preferred English dubs. The ones I unfortunately heard were horrible. T_T However, I do like some Mandarin dubs such as Crayon Shin-chan but my view on Chinese dubs are quite skewed since Mandarin is my mother-language after all. :P

It depends what I first see it in; mostly, I prefer subs, but I prefer the Pokemon anime in English because that's how i've watched it since I was like seven XDXD
