Kaiji is great, not sure why my MAL isn't updating, but Im like onepside 18 in only 2 days

after you watch Kaiji (and then S2) make sure you check out Akagi if you liked that. It's basically Kaiji where the main character isn't pathetic.

I fixed it, but wah, I like Kaiji as a character.

iunno what you mean by "I fixed it", but I didn't say he was unlikable, just that he's pathetic. Which as a character he objectively is.

Fixed my MAL sig so it would actually update, it was stuck on mid Feb with my Nichijou episodes.  Man, I'm really screwing myself over, I have 2 labs to do today, and it's 3 AM.

Also I heard Akagi is about mahjong, I don't know how to play that and I heard that it's neccessary to know how to play to watch it.

you'll probably get a greater appreciation of it if you know the rules well, but I don't know much and I still enjoyed it. Everything pretty much just boils down to "Akagi is a mahjong wizard" anyway, and even from watching Kaiji there's probably a lot more to the show to you than just "look at Kaiji's amazing rock-paper-scissors strategies", "look at Kaiji's amazing pole-walking strategies", etc, so it's kinda the same thing. Sure it's a show about a guy playing mahjong, but I don't think I've ever heard a person say that they didn't enjoy the series solely because they didn't know mahjong.

Does Akagi have any "ZAWA ZAWA", if it don't, that's a deal breaker

as for zawa zawa, I think it might be used in Akagi, but it's a lot less pronounced and is just part of the background, rather than what it later became with Kaiji.

I'm in Hong Kong for exchange until May-ish, then I'll be heading back to the holy land.

I just finished Season 1. really good, I gave it a 10/10, I finished the series in 2 days, I couldn't stop watching.  It really made me think about morals and ethics with the first half, and then just made me change the way I should act with games and stuff.  Gave me a gambling itch, trust issues, and the importance of money.  If that's not a perfect score I don't know what is.

S2 is pretty good as well, but admittedly not quite as good as S1. Partially because it only goes through two different games, the second of which feels like it goes on forever. But if you like Kaiji, you should still like it.
