There is a continuation for the Manga called 10 days after, it was to conmemorate the 10 years of Slam Dunk back in 2004. Inoue drew a whole manga on blackboards of a japanese school and only a few people were lucky enough to go, a book was published under the "10 Days after" name and was a best seller to the point it was sold out, it was reissued this year, the book contains pictures of those drawings and the whole experience of having Inoue drawing Slam Dunk after 10 years. As the name mentions it the story occurs 10 days after the end of the National Tournament.

If someone is interested, he also did a pretty good job with an online manga called Buzzer Beater that was made into anime in 2003 (or was it 2005?) and 2007, 13 episodes each for a total of 26, I liked it a lot, It's no Slam Dunk, but it's nice to see Inoue's style of drawing made into anime again with the newer look of animation.

I saw one episode of Buzzer Beater... I can't get into it though because the players are aliens... It's not like Slam Dunk or Dear Boys...

As for my favorite Slam Dunk character, it has to be Akira Sendo from Ryonan... I even tried to copy his hairstyle...

I think if you let that slide and let the series grow on you, you will end up enjoy it, I actually read the manga before I saw the anime and I liked it, it was not too long after that they made it into anime and I think it came up pretty good, don't expect a Slam Dunk, but since it's only 26 episodes I think it's worth it  ;)

I like sports anime in general so maybe in the future, I'll watch it... I've been meaning to watch another sports anime series really so yeah I'll try watching it someday... Maybe I was just turned off by another bad local dub...

There's a very good sub, done by a group that only does sports anime, out there. I'm not sure if I can say the name here in the forums, but look for it on the regular places and you should find it  ;)
