"A boss never leaves the room it's guarding"
Then what was all that crap a few episodes back about Asuna wanting to pull the boss into the town?

Re: Sword Art Online
It was probably not a room guarding boss, but a field boss? It could also be that they didn't know the boss restrictions at the time.
I'm sort of happy that the plot seems to finally be progressing.

Re: Sword Art Online
as i'm catching up on this, i'm still wondering why they don't all work as a cohesive unit to get out, instead of splitting up into groups

Do you follow politics?
Also, as far as leveling goes, only the group that kills something gets the experience. You need to spread out to get monsters so you don't kill efficiency.

At least the show's getting better. But, it still can't hold a candle to the novels, Kirito is just so much more BA in them, lol.

Re: Sword Art Online
So this is an MMO that focuses mainly on weapons for combat, but there was never a dual weapons option? Crappiest combat system ever
(but it's finally nice to know why no one has used dual weapons so far)
Something that bothers me about the soundtrack is that flute music in the rather "quite" scenes. It just feels like the flute is way too dominant (plus it's doing too much) and is distracting from the scene itself (perhaps, though, it's only bothering me cause I'm a flute player. Dunno). On the other hand, I really liked the soundtrack during the battle with that blue demon boss (not quite sure if it was used in earlier episodes too)

Re: Sword Art Online
also regarding the boss fight, I hadn't noticed until then that this was done (at least in part) by the same people who did the Blue Exorcist show. When Kirito got his angry-face on, I was just like "wait, when did Rin show up in this show?"
I also think it's a bit funny how basically everyone aside from the main cast looks pretty similar to what their MMO character would be like (adult, authoritative, etc), regardless of the whole "everyone looks like their true selves" thing. You'd expect more out of shape teenagers than the relatively in-shape looking Army dudes, Asuna's bodyguard, etc. Of course, it'd be harder to make an army look imposing if it was made with what their real players looked like.

Re: Sword Art Online
But then the whole schtick of "looking like real people" doesn't really have any meaning. It's problematic cause some of the players don't look like your typical gamers, and also don't look like actual people as well.Akonyl wrote: Of course, it'd be harder to make an army look imposing if it was made with what their real players looked like.
Maybe most of the "normals" were killed already.

Another thing about their "avatars". It's been about 2 years already since it started, so does their look in the game also ages, or do they stay in the same way since they got locked inside the game?

of course it does, it exists to make the main characters more real/relatable, rather than their self-idealized avatars.Kor wrote:But then the whole schtick of "looking like real people" doesn't really have any meaning.Akonyl wrote: Of course, it'd be harder to make an army look imposing if it was made with what their real players looked like.

Re: Sword Art Online
So the typical gamer is an out of shape teenager? I mean, I play MMO's and all the people I play with are in the ranges between their late 20's to late 40's. Usually console gamers are the kids since they can't afford to build their own computer.Akonyl wrote: also regarding the boss fight, I hadn't noticed until then that this was done (at least in part) by the same people who did the Blue Exorcist show. (side note: In the novels it says something about minor alterations to appearances, Like liz dying her hair pink. So that might be another factor)

Re: Sword Art Online
typical? No, but aside from the first episode where they were shown during the reveal, we've seen pretty much zero, which I think's a bit suspect. The only characters that seem to be drawn as young at all are the main characters, all the others are drawn as they would look like if they were NPCs who were supposed to "look the part".Loudlol wrote:So the typical gamer is an out of shape teenager?
