Just like Negi, there is something they are using which turns them into an adult with a time limit. Although when I say adult, they only turn from an 11 to a 15 year old.

Nah, they don't switch with their future selves, their bodies just grows into a 15 year old.

When they arrived at the Magic World, he and his group became criminals because of Fate. To disguise themselves, Negi decided to change his body into a 15 year old while the others with him (his students and companions) are now in the body of a child.

It doesn't make him stronger at all.

The first use was to let Asuna have a practice date.




And they were intended to be used during the tournament but the rules changed and "kids" were allowed, but were used to hide from reporters thanks to the tournament, and when they all became "wanted" men they were used to hide.

When fate uses it he used it to get into the ball... The kid is his true form as far as we know.

I started the series on Funimation where most of the school knew about Negi's magic.
Then I saw one of the first episodes and was extremely confused.

^ The anime series are all alternate continuities (all three of them start over and go their own direction). The only thing that follows the True story are the OADs.
