if I read the LN at all it'll be after the show, but I've become sort of intrigued because I keep seeing "chapter 16.5" pop up in discussions of it and I'm curious as to just what's so bad about it. :-XLoudlol wrote: @Leo: Ranger won't read the LN's from what I remember. Something about Vol: 1 Chap: 16.5. lol But, yeah.
Hopefully since we're done with the side stories (Hunch atm not 100% sure) the quality of the story telling will go up. If not, well.... People can always read the LN's.
Side note: I'm actually kinda mad that the sides stories were played in chrono order. I was like that when I read book two that they weren't, but seeing them in it now just takes away so much.

To put it simply... Full blown, highly detailed ero scene. If that's not clear enough, it's pronz in word form. lol If you just skip that chapter (Some versions just take it out all together) it's a really good book series.Akonyl wrote:if I read the LN at all it'll be after the show, but I've become sort of intrigued because I keep seeing "chapter 16.5" pop up in discussions of it and I'm curious as to just what's so bad about it.Loudlol wrote: @Leo: Ranger won't read the LN's from what I remember. Don't. It's a spoiler. Don't check it out, it will be implied on the anime anyway, then you read it.

^SAO should be easy to end, don't worry. Volume 4 has a great ending.

Yeah, the SAO story technically wraps up in the 1st book. But, a new issue arises and that's what happens through books 3-4.Akonyl wrote: ...welp :I

I've been wondering, what's exactly IS a light novel? And, are the SAO ones translated into english? I might be interested in reading them after the anime series is over.

Re: Sword Art Online
"A light novel (ライトノベル raito noberu?) is a style of Japanese novel primarily targeting middle and high school students (young adult demographic).[1][verification needed] The term "light novel" is a wasei-eigo, or a Japanese term formed from words in the English language. For short, light novels are often called ranobe (ラノベ ranobe?)[2] or LN in the West. They are typically not more than 40,000–50,000 words long (the shorter ones being equivalent to a novella in US publishing terms), rarely exceed 200 pages, often have dense publishing schedules, are usually published in bunkobon size, and are often illustrated.[3] The text is often serialized in anthology magazines prior to collection in book form."
Straight from wikipedia.
You can read LN's on www.baka-tsuki.org. It has SAO translated into many languages.
Also, trailer for episode 8: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ttoJdK6 ... r_embedded

Huh. I knew that Japanese culture was different, but I didn't think they would put detailed sex scenes in a book targeted at middle school children.leokiko wrote: "A light novel (ライトノベル raito noberu?) is a style of Japanese novel primarily targeting middle and high school students (young adult demographic).[1][verification needed] The term "light novel" is a wasei-eigo, or a Japanese term formed from words in the English language. Personally I think Light Novel just specifies the size of it book rather than the demographic. But, I could be wrong on that.phreak_91 wrote:Huh. Just because the primary demographic for light novels are middle and high school students doesn't mean there aren't light novels for other demographics.

Re: Sword Art Online
I was sorta hoping that the sword from the side story would carry over into the main episodes
but nope, back to old sword, who needs a better and totally sweet weapon? :V
also, saying "boss monsters never leave the rooms they guard!" and then proceeding to make that not matter at all by entering the room isn't exactly the brightest of ideas
