There's one thing that I'm surprised they didn't do, while watching Brotherhood:
Spoiler:
When Roy's chasing Envy through the labyrinth and Hawkeye follows and then Envy takes the form of Hawkeye, they make a point to immediately take the start of the next episode to do the backstory of how Hawkeye had the secret of flame alchemy tattooed on her back and how she asked Roy to burn it off etc. Since they already made a point of showing that Envy doesn't make perfect copies (when he copies Maria Ross, he originally forgets her mole), I'd expected them to pull a scene where Roy encountered Envy-Hawkeye and Hawkeye together in the tunnels and had to choose the real one, at which point he'd be like "well, show me your back" and then explode Envy some more when he messed up.

Though on the one hand, I'm glad they didn't do it because it would be a bit predictable, it woulda been pretty awesome as well imo :P

3) Al got his body destroyed. Ed gave his arm to bring him back into armour and then went through double automail surgery. And they didn't even manage to bring their mother back. I WANNA HUG THOSE BOYS SO MUCH.
5) I can never decide if I love Roy or if he's a jackass. It could be both.
All of those things.  As to Roy:  it's definitely both.  And Al is a sweetie.
I have now met General Armstrong. And I freaking love her. Also, just finished reading the chapter where Dr Marco (or whatever the romanization is this chapter) fights Envy. Previously, I'd thought he was just kind of an emo wuss, but clearly the badassery around him is rubbing off.

Also, Salem Bradley: DEFINITION OF CREEPY CHILD.

Definitely, when it was revealed I thought he was better nightmare stuff than most of the tales I heard when I was little :P
It's a bit sad FMA is finished... the author was one of the few who knew how to combine seriousness with epic hilariousness :)

I think Al's the best definition of that XDXD I absolutely adore his chibi form :P I love how he and Ed can be sometimes, even in the middle of really serious battles, especially if anyone uses any word synonymous with "small" XDXDXD

I'm now midway through volume 22, while Roy and co are midway through busting out of Central with Bradley's wife. All I can say is: NAKAMA. FREAKIN NAKAMA. RIGHT THERE. I think I laughed and cried aloud at the same time when Havoc phoned up.

Just finished. SO MUCH AWESOME MY BRAIN EXPLODED GAAAAAAAAAH

Ahem. But it was epic and intense. Also, the final scenes were just adorable.

Anyway, I need reccomendations. I'm going to watch Brotherhood first, so are the subs or dubs better? Anybody know?

They're both good.  FMA is one of those series that the dub cast puts its all into.

The streaming website I was originally on didn't have dubs for all of the episodes, so maybe not. Well, by the time I can afford DVDs, it probably will be :P

from what I can see, dubbed episodes exist through 52, which is pretty close but not all the way.

The last 10-13 episodes aren't dubbed yet, but will be by the end of the month.  I believe the final release comes out on the 26th.

Yeah. I watched it dubbed because that's how I'd watched the original FMA and wanted to hear the same VAs, but it's a legitimately good dub whether you've heard them before or not.

Plus, if you watch it in English, you don't have to hear an evil, maniacal Conan every time Envy speaks.  It really is jarring.

I'd forgotten all about that, but that just made envy funny imo, which was good because I disliked him otherwise :P

It's been making me laugh like crazy every time XD Also, fun thing that I probably only noticed because I was watching Pokemon movie 13 right before I started on Brotherhood, but Ed and Al are Zoroark and Celebi. WHICH JUST MAKES AL EXTRA ADORABLE ♥

Also, Lust was freaking me out because her voice was so damn familiar, so I looked it up and turns out she's Chianti. So... cleaned up nicely here, evidently.
