So how to get the US/Canadian demo has finally been revealed: You need to sign up for the Pokemon Trainer Club newsletter by the 20th and opt to receive their newsletter. You have to check a box for marketing or something along those lines in your settings.

And Mega Steelix and Glalie were revealed in the demo. But still no news for Flygon or Milotic...

I'll get really upset when they don't include mega Flygon D:

Exactly! Everyone else got megas, including the pseudo-legendaries.

Well, it's a remake, so somewhere I saw it coming.... hopefully the next gen will still contain customisation...

I don't see why a remake should preclude customization when they're happy adding tons of other new shit. Especially when customization isn't like walking Pokemon, which was a hella fun feature which also only appeared for one pair of games. Trainer customization was a feature that had very palpable positive effects on the players in the real world. Character customization that allows for racial variation is SO INEXPRESSIBLY IMPORTANT and I saw nothing but floods of joy over it when it was announced. Taking it away again is like if they removed the option to play as a girl after Crystal.

I guess you're right.... So far I can only guess why they didn't add it.
It's a pity though, it was really fun to dress up characters.

Game wise, though, the demo looks pretty enough. At least that's something positive.

Yeah, the only excuse I could come up with was "well, it's a remake" and even that is so damn flimsy. And if they're planning to the keep the PSS as-is, it's going to be super confusing because everyone's gonna like like one of two people (unless people actually decide to use those other sprites that are offered, but somehow I doubt many will - and even then, there are only so many). I'm really sad over this.

Well, the other excuse I could come up with is that it takes place in a society based on Japan... Japan is known in general for not being very accepting of immigration, so foreigners would mostly be tourists and thus the range of skin tones would most likely be limited to those of the Japanese and the few western white people that live there.
That, however is no excuse for the lack of clothing stores and haircuts...

I know Japan is pretty homogenous, but if Game Freak was that racist I don't think the feature would've been instituted in the first place. Besides, Pokemon has been a huge global franchise for a long time now. This move seems like a huge step back and I really can't understand why it would be taken.

Pokemon: Taking away features fans love since 1995! :V

But yeah, terrible choice of them to remove trainer customisation. Hopefully they will learn from their mistake and bring it back in Gen 7
