Higurashi no Naku Koro ni + Kai + Rei + Umineko {Manga/Anime

I dunno about Umineko, but as far as Higurashi goes, it's a mystery, but not Conan-like at all. The only thing it shares with Conan is the amount of killing involved.

It's what happens if an adorable slice of life anime had characters who ended up screwed up and insane (probably, it's kind of a mind screw series I guess).

Just started watching Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei. The first episode (Hajisarashi-hen) is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen in my entire life!! What did they even bother to put that in?

I think you're talking about the first episode of Kai. The one I was referring to was the swimming suit one in which Keiichi wore a swim trunk that apparently will make him fall in love with himself, so Mion, Satoko, etc and a bunch of people are trying to take it off so that he won't become a narcissist. A dumb episode really.

The one you're talking about is alright, and I agree with the Rena part.

Rei is basically about nothing except for the 2nd to 4th episode, although I think that it still means nothing. It's mostly for comedic purposes imo.

True, episodes 2-4 are a little serious but episode 5 (Rena falling in love with whoever that has the jewel) is hilarious. That makes me laugh so much when I saw the episode.
