good luck finding a reliable ice type before you face her, and she's the only gym leader who's resistant to your starters, no matter which one you pick

Who needs an Ice Type?  Just buy Blizzard in Goldenrod and give it to a Water Type.

Or go back to New Bark Town and surf to the east (I forget if someone stops you or if it just naturally won't let you past a certain point without Waterfall).  Dragon Claw is in that area, I THINK before the area you need Waterfall, but I can't recall.

Avalanche is also in the Ice Path right before her gym.

And if you MUST have an Ice Type, you can get Dewgong in the Seafoam Islands, Swinub in the Ice Path, Snorunt from the PokeWalker, or Snover from the PokeWalker. 

Granted, she's the toughest Johto trainer, but she still a pushover for the most part.  Worst thing she did to me was constantly Thunder Wave me.

nah, it's after, and dewgong is...bleh, i can't remember if you can get lapras before her or not...i think you can

I've never actually used Lapras, but I do know that the ones i've fought can be bastards to kill if you don't get some powerful electric moves in fast enough.

They have a lot of HP. I like Lapras, since it can do some good attack combinations
