After hearing many people suggested this series around the forum, I decided to give this series a try, and I was pleasantly surprised and glad. I'm only at episode 3 right now of the first season but the plot development and the characters are absolutely amazing. The suspense is gripping and I am sitting at the edge of my chair as the story progresses on. It's a fantastic series and I cannot wait to see more of it.
YAY!!! Yeah, Higurashi's awesome. My 4rd favorite anime (1. Detective Conan, 2. Romeo X Juliet, 3. Baccano!). I remember I was sick when I watched it and got to stay home from school, so I finished the first season in a day. =w=
Wow! That's fast!! I am on the last arc of 1st season. I cannot wait to get to the answer arcs. I do have a question though. Am I supposed to treat each arc as distinctly different? I notice that there's a parallel time frame between Onikakushi and Watanagashi arcs but there's some facts that definitely don't match up. The Tatarigoroshi arc is a completely different story obviously.
Actually, the one thing that bugs me is that the one thing not explained is who killed Keiichi at the end of the second arc. Both Mion and Shion were confirmed dead and no one else has that hair colour. SO WHO THE FRACK WAS IT?!?!?!?!?!

I've heard a theory that it was a horrible nightmare/Keiichi lost his mind/wild mass guessing.

I think that gets answered in the Eye Opening Arc (Meakashi-hen) in the Sound Novels.

The second season has much more plot and less killing though, plus the animation's better.

Agreed! You should try the first live action movie! It's basically the Onikakushi arc with a couple changes. I quite liked it, but then again I watched it at 4am (not a good idea) so my judgement may have been a bit skewed.

I managed to find it on YouTube so you can look there. Like the series, it's called Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, so just search that along with "live action part 1" and it should pop up.
