Yeah, I'm hoping that the 12 is just something raging fans applied to the already specified release information.  But then again, no one knows for sure whether it's 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, or 12.

They could still just skip a conclusion and go straight to Sigh.  It's not impossible, at this point.  DVD only conclusion to ensure sales?  Seems like something they'd do.

DVD only non-Endless Episodes ftw.

Because some of them are amazing artistically speaking, like the one with the clouds.
yes that is externally true I am sure that is episode 5 and I thought that was the best.

it's like...um...what's that game called? The one where you have two pictures and have to find the differences between the two?

Well, it's like that, except it takes 8 weeks (more if you really want to find every insignificant difference (God knows SOMEONE does)) to finish this game and there are eight 20+ minute long moving pictures instead of just two still pictures.

Also, everyone involved in the series is ridiculously awesome at what they do (especially the voice acting) so that certainly helps.

I'll point out some of my favorite differences out of boredom.
Episode 1 is the only one that spends any large amount of time on the cicadas.
Episode 2 has the best explained version of the Endless Recursion of Time part.
Episode 3 has the best part in any of the Endless Eights during the Endless Recursion of Time part though with Koizumi repeating himself just for the humor of it. Also, Kyon is LOOOOOUD.
Episode 4 is...um...
...
Episode 5 added some great dialogue. Also, the ending was done well.
Episode 6 is terrible.
Episode 7 has Kyon losing his mind. Trust me, it's great.

Four has the clouds and, as far as I've seen thus far, the best portrayal of Yuki's boredom.

I can continue this pointlessness...

typical fanboy after each ep:
1. ...wait, where's the plot twist?!
2. Oh wait duh.
3. Ok next one, then this nonsense will be over.
4...it's...over next time right? *cries in corner with ice cream*
5. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR
6. ANGRY SMILIE I HATE YOU
7. Now I will pretend I never threw an internet temper tantrum and just hope the next episode is the last.
and of course
8. OH THANK GOD I AM SAVED MY LIFE ISN'T TERRIBLE ANYMORE!1!!!

There will be, they have to do Sigh this season to fulfill their goal of filling in the gaps.  It's just a matter of whether it gets one episode or five.
