It's a nice break from the shitty mainstream shounen protagonists.
I haven't seen the VN but Lancer cursing all over the place made me think of that fire in Fuyuki at the end of the 4th war (which was shown on FSN anime) and I was like "so that's why". I may be completely wrong, of course XD
I was flabbergasted on who Red Archer actually is.
Much better than Fate route.
yeah, that reveal definitely made me go "oh shiiii" too, hence me going "oh man" when you said you were at the part where they go fight caster to save saber.
can someone explain what exactly happened in the end with Red Archer though?
Spoiler:
Didn't really understand. So, Emiya now knows his ideals are impossible to achieve, so does this create like a paradox with Red Archer, as he wouldn't exist if Emiya didn't keep pursuing his goals? Didn't Tohsaka promise Red Archer he won't make Emiya follow the same path as him?
I kinda blazed past and was multi-tasking for that last bit with Red Archer's story lol.

Spoiler:
Archer (everyone just calls him Archer, if you want to speak of Gil just call him Gil) is from another reality where Emiya Shirou did do what he did to become Archer. Shirou's actions in any other reality/timeline won't change what happened to Archer. However, Archer comes to terms with what he did and his future, and accepts his fate at the end of UBW. Also note, that after Gil skewers him, "Servant Archer" dies. When he appears again later, he's Counter Guardian Emiya, not Archer. So he actually keeps his memory of what transpired, whereas Servants don't when they disappear.
yoo dude...
Heaven's Feel route made no sense to me man.
Spoiler:
What's up with all this mumbo jumbo about multiple holy grails, you got a grail of the land or some shit, another that's Ilya/Sakura, and then the Servants get sucked up or something? I had no idea what was going on. The explanation was too dry and boring.
Also, screwwww Sakura. And Shirou. And then there were these like weapons that Rin was making, like a gem sword, but then Shirou used some other dagger...aargh, so confusing.
And then wtf is Heaven's Feel exactly? Like they kept spouting out this third magic nonsense...
ALSO, WTF, how did this True Assassin bloke get summoned? Hella strange, why didn't he get summoned in the other 2 arcs? He just like burst out of the other Assassin's body.
And yeah, I don't get the whole Matou Zouken and Sakura's goals. Why did he need to use Sakura?

Shit was so confusing, HF was worse than UBW.
Oh well, time to move on to Fate/Zero.
Lot here, so let me see if I can cover what I notice:
Spoiler:
Servants have always been absorbed by the Grail upon defeat. It's why Ilya loses all of her strength in the Fate route. She simply can't keep going after 5 Servants are defeated. The Greater Grail is what's actually linked to the Root. It also sets up the war by selecting Masters and Servants and such. The Lesser Grail is what collects the Servants once they're defeated. It is spiritually connected to the Greater Grail, but not physically connected to it.
Rin was using the Jeweled Sword of Zelretch, which can use the Second Magic and connect to other realities. Shirou used the Azoth Dagger, which he used to kill Kotomine at the end of the Fate route.
The Third Magic is basically being able to keep a soul from disappearing after its body dies. Ilya uses a form of it to save Shirou at the end of HF.
True Assassin wasn't summoned in Fate and UBW because no true Master summoned him. False Assassin was summoned because a Servant summoned him. Once a real Master, Zouken, used the summon servant spell, out popped the True Assassin.
Zouken needed to use Sakura because he was freaking nuts. His goal is to win the War because he was in love with Justivica, and she wanted it, but he lost sight of what he was doing considering he's over 200 years old. And by using the Shadow, he had a very good shot at winning this war. He was originally going to wait until the 6th War, but realized he could use Sakura in this one after finding out about her feelings for Shirou.

I really don't see the critical acclaim for HF, I mean sure it's dark, maybe because I have no sympathy for Sakura.
Spoiler:
So why exactly is the route called Heaven's Feel? I mean, I get that Ilya used it at the end to save Shirou, but does it hold any more importance?
Also, why did Rin need to use the gem sword? What does the second magic have anything to do with killing Sakura/the shadow? What about the Azoth Dagger? Why did Shirou decide to use the dagger instead of the gem blade?
How was Rider ressurrected when she seemed to die? I thought servants were done for.
Why didn't Archer try to kill Emiya in this route? I thought that was his number one objective, and this time he didn't have a command spell restricting him to harm him.
Also, for the shadow, it seemed like it was helping Zouten the whole way, by surprising Lancer and Saber and absorbing them. I thought the shadow was acting indepedently.
Also, if Sakura is a grail vessel, how come her shadow form didn't take form in the other two routes? Wouldn't her and Zouken not just sit idly?

Man this route is so confusing. lol.
Took me a while to appreciate it too.
Spoiler:
Heaven's Feel is also an alternative name for the Fuyuki Grail War.
The Jeweled Sword gave Rin the ability to basically use unlimited mana, which she needed to combat Dark Sakura's near infinite mana.
Rider was injured pretty heavily, but reverted to being Sakura's Servant before dying and used her vast mana pool to recover.
Archer only tries to kill Shirou when he's able to. He didn't in Fate because he was injured early. He didn't in Heaven's Feel because the Shadow appeared, and his Counter Guardian instincts told him he needed to deal with that above all else.
The Shadow was under Zouken's control (the Makiri are renowned for seals, such that they were the ones who supplied the means to control Servants in the Grail War, so it's no surprise that he could bend a mindless being to his will). Once Sakura accepted the Shadow as being part of her, she was in control instead of Zouken.
Zouken had to activate her false Grail before she would become the Shadow. He didn't in the other two routes because he figured he'd let Shinji have his fun and just win the 6th War. In the HF route, he realized he could manipulate Sakura easily and win this War because of her feelings for Shirou, which he only learned in the HF route.
