Apparently, people kind of forgot Naruto isn't, and was really never, a mystery manga.

It was obvious it was gonna be Obito from the very beginning. The name similarity was always there, and the fact that the time skip was preceded with the reveal of Obito... well, let's just say Chekhov's Gun.

Naruto's aimed at kids. Not at us.

Naruto is a fantasy action show, and twists as idiotic as these are fair game. Why? Because it doesn't matter. Kids will not actually care, they'll go "OH GOD THERE WAS A REVEAL" "But who's that guy?" "Who cares? THERE'S A BIG FIGHT COMING UP NEXT". Older kids will have followed the plot, and theorized Tobi was Obito, and now they're right and they can brag about it.

We're the kind of people that are stuck going "wtf" at things as badly written as this. Only us.
