Avengers - what i wanted
Dark knight - what i needed
Rises - A pleasure with an awesome ending... However it has it's flaws unlike Begins and DK....

A friend of mine keeps on arguing that TDKR did a great thing by changing and then started a "Nolan is great and a dont give shit about comics" rant.... But i tried to explain to him that some things like the pit were orignally made in the 60's (the unrealistic batman era) and Nolan HAD to make it realistic because thats what works for HIM.

We cant compare Avengers and DK directly.. both accomplished what it set out to do,, but in the case of DK, many dont give credit to the comics (especially Nolanmaniacs) which is TOTALLY WRONG.

Nolan deserves some serious props for Awesome direction and new additions to the Bat-verse... But the credit for the story and the awesome dialouges go to the comics and writers like Jeph loeb, Morrison and Frank miller!

What i want to ask you is-

who do you agree with??

I agree with your friend, I didn't like at all the last Batman movie.

I was the one who pointed out that the movie had flaws.. he just couldnt accept it... he's a nolan fan....

I actually really enjoyed The Dark Knight Rises.  Of course, I've never read any of the comics (of any of the superheroes, DC or Marvel), so I don't have that comparison to worry about.

I liked the 3rd movie a lot, however I thought Gordon Levitt's character didn't really mesh well into the series, how he just automatically knew Bruce was Batman.  It felt like Nolan included him in it just for giggles so it'll be an Inception reunion

Imo, you can't give Nolan all credits, since he didn't created Batman on his own :V And it's not like there was no Batman before :x

If you ask me, I still think TDK is hard to watch more than once.

It seems like the first time you just get swallowed up by how action-packed it is, but the second time it feels like a chore and you start to notice little mistakes and small things that you shouldn't.

I'd say Nolan deserves the majority of the credit. I won't say that the entire movie was his brainchild, that he paid no homage to the comics, that the movies are somehow perfect, etc, but the success of the trilogy is in large part due to Nolan's take on the universe. There have been a quite a few Batman movies done in the past, and while they were all successes, none of them achieved the level of notoriety that the Nolan films have. Sure, the comics gave him characters and ideas to use, but that alone doesn't make a good film.

Also, even if it sounds bad, I would give some credit for the popularity of the series to the death of Heath Ledger, because of how much attention it put on his performance as the Joker.

For the most part I enjoyed Dark Knight Rises, though I can never unsee that irritating continuity error with the cane and Blake's presence was kind of outta nowhere. But overall I think it rounded off a good trilogy very well. Like Ako said, there have been Batman movies before, but these were something different and very well executed. So props to Nolan for all that.

I never said "no props" to Nolan. He did some awesome direction but the story of the DK is totally long halloween as well as some joker stories thrown in the mix........ so he doesn,t deserve the credit for that!!

No one's saying Nolan did Batman, just like no one's saying that Jackson did LOTR, but they both gave us some damn good movies, so people give them credit for that (and by "no one" I mean "most people" since stupid people do exist). It kinda sounds to me like you're annoyed by people supposedly giving undeserved credit to Nolan. If that's the case, well...

The Blake character seemed like a mix of a lot of Robin's, Tim Drake's being the one who managed to figure out Batman's identity at a young age and was probably reference to/inspired from that.
