N one could play Sherlock like Jeremy Brett

SH's reaction at the end of the second video makes me laugh every time XD

Finally someone who also likes Jeremy Brett as our favourite detective.
There are soo many good scenes in the series, I just can't decide

Can't decide between Jeremy Brett and Benedict Cumberbatch... I think the latter is the best for the modern setting he's in, but Brett is the one I associate more with the original Holmes era if that makes any sense...? They both have fairly good Watsons too imo

On Watson:
Brett actually had two partners :David Burke - until "The final Problem" and was replaced by Edward Hardwicke - starting from "The empty House"
It's really hard to tell which one is the better Watson because they are both hilarious

Fairly sure the one I remember the most from the Brett era was Hardwicke, but I'll have to go back and check some time... Still, the portrayal of Watson in general is one of my favourite (don't like it quite as much as the one from Sherlock, but I'd rate it about the same as the recent films...)

Without sounding rude but portraying Watson is way more easy than showing all the different faces of Holmes.
Holmes is difficult to understand even more difficult to play.

Anyway, if it was unclear I meant it was more free from the misconceptions that Watson is incredibly dumb and can't do anything without Holmes that it seems many adaptions have the tendency to do ... while Holmes is the 'main' character, Watson is enough a part of it all that his OOCness can be pretty distracting and detract from some adaptions, it's got to have the whole package imo

I wouldn't say it that way, Watson has some good points well not the best brain but I wouldn't call him dumb. He is also cabable of doing deductions on his own.
Well the result was mainly influenced by Holmes who just threw in the final touch but I see what you are getting at.

Moriarty but Adler... that's a thoughfy .. She has some more light moments than Watson but still not as brilliant as Holmes

In defense of Watson!

He was not written as a bumbling idiot, like the ones you see on TV, screen or hear on radio, that was the invention of those particular media to create comic relief in the story - especially during the later portrayals of Watson by Nigel Bruce.

Granted he wasn't the brightest person, but he was still smarter than Inspector Lestrade. Also, with Holmes's tutelage he began to understand things more clearly.
