Pepper! It's happened, the hero's girlfriend has been taken hostage, it happens to everyone eventually. Might be why this movie's going to be light on the other Avengers-- Tony'll be told that if he doesn't come alone, Pepper dies...

Spoliers follow.
There’s going to be a big fight sequence with The Mandarin, who’s the main villain, which will involve none other than forty different Iron Man suits. There’s an amazing rescue where The Mandarin basically wants to bring down the American government and kill the President, and he launches an attack on Air Force One. All of the President and his men and staff get sucked out of the plane and Iron Man rescues them by forming this amazing human chain in the sky.

The best thing of all is Iron Man himself, Tony Stark, has an upgrade, which they’ve taken the storyline from the comics where he has this sensory thing installed so that basically he can manipulate the suit more with his mind. He points his hand or his leg at various parts of the suit and the suit just flies onto him… It’s like a form of telekinesis.

There’s an amazing sequence where he has this rooftop house that he builds to store all his Iron Man suits and it gets attacked by The Mandarin and these gunships. Now they’ve released the exclusive last week in Italy I think it’s about to go online this week the teaser trailer. I don’t think it will be as long as the one I saw.

There are forty Iron Man suits written into this feature in various ways… he needs this Iron Man army to go up against The Mandarin’s forces.

Iceland is going to be used as a location in Asgard. Thor becomes reunited with Jane who becomes possessed by a Dark Spirit which is connected with the Dark Elves, a race that the Asgardians have fallen out with many years beforehand and what happens is that basically The Dark Elves attack Asgard, and they take a huge hit and so Thor has to rebuild Asgard by putting together an army to go and take the battle to the Dark Elves and defeat them.

But the only way he can do this is, is he needs to cross over to the Dark World and the only person who has access to the dark side out of Asgard is his old brother Loki, who at the beginning of the film is locked up in prison, because at the end of the end of The Avengers we see him taken off to Asgard to prison.

So what happens is Thor basically has to negotiate this truce with Loki and he goes on this great trek with Jane, all three of them, they go to this far side of Asgard which is being shot in Iceland, where they train and assemble an army to go and attack the Dark Elves’ world which, nterestingly enough, a lot of it being shot here in Britain. A lot of the historical locations of Britain as the Dark Elves’ world… more of the sort of old buildings of London so it has that very sort of Gothic feel.

One of the things that happens during the Asgardian attack is that Thor’s mother gets killed so it becomes like a vengeance thing. And they were keeping very tight-lipped about what actually happens with Loki. You don’t know whether he redeems himself or he’s still the bad egg.
Also, the trailer, bear with the french subtitles, they are very unobtrusive:
So, Tony's voice in the background is acknowledging that he has PTSD, to Pepper I think
Also, Tony in the ice! after the desert, that's quite a change!
Also, ALL THE DESTRUCTION!! I love a bit of that!
Wow, I'm really excited! Can't wait for May!
I'm...getting some DKR vibes from this. Hopefully it's not going to be as dark as the trailer makes it seem.

Honestly, I'm not getting that sort of "this is taking itself too seriously for me to even begin to take seriously" vibe that I get from a lot of the recent "dark and gritty" superhero stuff, which I am way tired of (Dark Knight Rises was probably the peak of that). Maybe it's because Tony Stark has always been a personally-flawed character that you actually believe could face a real dilemma and change because of it.

Let's wait and see how it turns out, I suppose, but I'm feeling it right now.

This begins "Marvel: Phase 2", which is supposed to be a dark, trying time for the heroes.  Phase 1 built the heroes, Phase 2 breaks them.

Isn't that what GinRei just said? :P

Phase 2: Break The Heroes is cool and logical and everything, but I hope they don't go completely overboard with the darkness either. It'll probably be down to the acting, I guess, so here's hoping for good performances from everyone.
