The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
So, according to IGN and any other credible (credible by the low low low low standards of major gaming sites anyway) sites, this is the best Zelda game ever and anything new and awesome you heard might have been a possibility in this game is in this game.
So, against all logic, I am completely falling for the hype. After Brawl I've mainly done everything I can to avoid being too hyped for any game ever, and when I can't avoid that I wish I was never hyped for them(see: Scribblenauts, Metroid Other M, Megaman Legends 3). So I hope this is as good as it sounds.
I mean, I'm not one to internetwhine about how an awesome video game isn't too original, but Zelda really hasn't done something TOO different since at least Wind Waker (and even that's arguable) so I'm glad to hear it's finally trying to be different. Nintendo finally getting increasing the amount of well done storytelling? Switch to a more Metroidvania? Making the games less linear, longer and apparently somewhat challenging again? These are all good things, and considering how they are trying to improve a series that doesn't really need to be improved, I'm expecting something truly amazing from this game. I'm honestly wouldn't be surprised if this and Skyrim end up as 2 of my top 10 favorite games ever.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
I figure it has to be good when the only complaint I can form from the trailer is how Link holds his sword (and I don't mean being right-handed). Ever since Majora's Mask I've been able to find at least something suitable to scrutinize based on the trailers, but so far not really anything substantial for Skyward Sword. It's looking good. If I can get the limited edition at Walmart for $60, I will, otherwise I'll just order the regular off Amazon for $50.
Probably be the last Nintendo game I buy for a loooooooong time, taking my total Wii game count to... five. And that's a large reason why I likely won't be buying another Nintendo game for a long time.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
normally I'd point out how many (admittedly not hugely successful sales-wise) games you missed that you could probably find for 5-20 bucks nowadays, but everytime I do that with dissappointed Wii owners, they completely ignore me for no apparent reason so I'm not even gonna bother.GinRei wrote: Probably be the last Nintendo game I buy for a loooooooong time, taking my total Wii game count to... five. I might wake up early and go running. I also might wake up and win the lottery. The odds are about the same.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
from the info that I'd heard, there actually isn't any "way link holds his sword" in the game because it's based on the angle of the wiimote or something, so basically he holds it how you hold it, and you're complaining about the person playing the game insteadGinRei wrote: I figure it has to be good when the only complaint I can form from the trailer is how Link holds his sword (and I don't mean being right-handed).

also I heard that you might start off with something other than three hearts, what up with that?

Theory 1: They probably either ran out of places to hide pieces of heart or there just aren't that many in this game.Akonyl wrote: also I heard that you might start off with something other than three hearts, what up with that?
Theory 2: There's a dungeon early on, so they tried to help out the players.
Theory 3: They're trying something new that we can't fathom.
Spoiler:
Knowing the truth and knowing what to do with the truth are two completely separate ideas. Learn to distinguish them. OR ELSE.

ORLY!? In that case, even less to complain about. Means people doing the trailers hold the Wii-mote like it's a baton instead of a sword. Touché, salesman.Akonyl wrote:from the info that I'd heard, there actually isn't any "way link holds his sword" in the game because it's based on the angle of the wiimote or something, so basically he holds it how you hold it, and you're complaining about the person playing the game insteadGinRei wrote: I figure it has to be good when the only complaint I can form from the trailer is how Link holds his sword (and I don't mean being right-handed).![]()

more people purposely ignoring games so that they can't be proven wrong on an internet forum. Typical. I dare you to prove me wrong about this, cause basically no one has ever.

Ignoring what isn't there? I believe that isn't ignoring, but just... not being psychic?kkslider5552000 wrote: so I'm not even gonna bother.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
I fully realized that when posting it, but I was hoping for some "wait what games are those?" response or any actual interest in buying games for the system if they actually exist and are good.
Basically, I refuse not to let these games sell poorly (despite being way too late for that to matter I guess) but am too intelligent to be dumb enough to think it will actually work.
Name a game genre that isn't RPG (...an RPG announced for America at least) that you like. Will think of at least a game, likely several games, that are really, really good. But PM cause I've derailed the thread enough.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
actually twilight princess came out after wind waker and was a lot different, at least i think so. i liked the graphics way better, the whole being a wolf aspect and the 2 different worlds that you had to go through. i am looking forward to skyward sword though, it looks completely awesome!

...no, not really. I mean it wasn't like a half-assed Capcom sequel but still...prince_echizen wrote: actually twilight princess came out after wind waker and was a lot different, at least i think so.
even as someone who liked the TP graphics...no. Especially in 10 years when like OOT, TP will look like crap.prince_echizen wrote: i liked the graphics way better
was done better for all 3 forms in Majora's Mask, digging and scent were cool additions though!prince_echizen wrote: the whole being a wolf aspect
which has been done in like 4 previous Zelda games (hell, Oracle of Seasons had 4 different worlds)prince_echizen wrote: the 2 different worlds that you had to go through
Twilight Princess is my 2nd fav. Zelda but that's more because of the general quality of the game rather than any real innovation. Twilight Princess was blatantly trying to be the new OOT (and OOT was trying to be the new LTTP) more than anything.

*glaring at the population of Europe*
There are video walkthroughs of the game already. And not by early press release game receivers. The game releases in Europe officially on the 18th, how the frig did they get them today?! D:
*pout*
Is it Sunday yet?
