Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds

If you don't know him, he was the songwriter/second vocalist/main guitarist for the british rock band Oasis of "What's the Story Morning Glory" fame.  They do Wonderwall if you're still confused.

Anyways, he released a top notch album about a couple weeks ago, I recommend anyone who likes 90's or any type of rock that predates that decade to check it out.

Honestly, it's not the greatest thing ever, and it's not a disappointment.  Just about what I expected from him.  My favorite song has to be this one.

As a fan of Britpop, I have to say Noel totally trumped Chris Martin and the boys with their Mylo Xyoto, and showed them what true British pop/rock sounds like.  Besides "Paradise", the new Coldplay album really isn't thaat great...I wasn't impressed with Viva La Vida either.  X & Y however was a masterpiece, one of my fave albums ever.

You can, of course, expect a detailed Jd- post in this topic today. Unfortunately I cannot make said post at the moment, but I will say I tuned in for Noel's streamed concert last night from the BBC radio lounge and it was, in a word, brilliant.

Liam  live forever alone

This album is great.  I enjoy every single song on it.  The last time I could say the same for an album was Plastic Beach for Gorillaz

It is a brilliant album. Did you hear that Noel & Albarn ended up having a drink the other day and are now on good terms? Noel left the door open on a possible future collab, too.

I assumed that their rivalry was pretty much over, considering the fact that they are both old farts and have loss a large quantity of their egos.

However, I don't see a collaboration with Damon and Noel with the music they make right now.  Albarn has...changed, so much.  I mean, he essentially does hip-hop more or less now, while Noel is doing of his own thing.  I mean the latest album doesn't really sound like 'Oasis', it sounds more of 'The Importance of Being Idle' x 9 songs.

It would be interesting to see a Gorillaz song featuring him though.

Also, Fallen Angel...Broken Arrow, great song

Liam and the rest of Oasis formed up a new band called 'Beady Eye', they released an album not too long ago.  I'm not  a big fan, considering the fact that the lead songwriter who pretty much wrote 90% of all the songs is not part of Beady Eye.

ahh I see. I guess Liam just has that unique voice that's immediately recognisable as "Oasis" voice. i must say i think this song won me over to the Noel camp.
