The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is already a disappointment
First of all, timeline-wise, every hardcore LoZ fan (ME) knows that Ocarina of Time was the beginning of the split timeline (Apparently I should call it a theory).
In this game, the Hero (aka Link), is brought up as part of the kokiri (yes these are the same people as the tree people in LoZ: Wind Waker, so they've obviously adapted over time, for those that didn't know).
Hence the reason why the Hero wears green.
Now this is where Skyward Sword already disappoints me. It supposedly takes place BEFORE Ocarina of Time, yet stiill brings the "Hero in Green" concept to it.
The "Hero in Green" is associated with Ocarina of time, but if those events haven't happened yet, why is there still the "Hero in Green"
It is an itch I have to scratch, but can't.

I'm sure it'll be explained. And if not, who cares. If you're getting that worked up over a part of a video game's legacy that's always existed, then just don't play the game. Pretend it doesn't exist. There, now no more problems.

I have to agree with GinRei on this one. No point in ruining your image of a video game over something like that. It's all about playability anyway (which includes the storyline -- which is its own).

By the way, how can you be angry about this but not about the fact that they made Link right-handed because of Wii functionality?

besides, Minish Cap HAS to happen before OOT too (it was purposely written as the origin of the hat, and there is no Master Sword either) and even by timeline issues this seems to be a non-issue.
And I don't even remember the "green clothes = Kokiri" things despite playing OOT countless times, including recently.
also if the game takes place in the sky there is actually some possible logic to the Kokiri as Wind Waker also took place in the same...elevation.

why worry about how the game fits into a piece of fandom that's never been officially confirmed?

I've read in an IGN article that Nintendo of Japan confirmed that the nintendo dudes do have the master timeline (as it was called in the article), but they refuse to release it to the public. With the usual argument of authors/creators that they don't want to restrict the imagination of the readers/gamers, i don't think it would be released anytime soon. That is if the official timeline really exist or they're just pulling on our legAkonyl wrote:they've said that a timeline exists, however they've never confirmed where the games go in the timeline.kkslider5552000 wrote:I'm pretty sure they've said a timeline exists so yeah.Akonyl wrote: why worry about how the game fits into a piece of fandom that's never been officially confirmed?

A scan from the official Nintendo magazine.

I think I read somewhere that SS is supposed to be the origin story of the Master Sword, but I can't remember if that's something I made up because I'm crazy or if it's actually true.

I think you're crazy.
Also, that page is false advertising. Link was not an adult in Majora's Mask.

Oh wow, I hadn't even noticed that they messed up that bad lol. Still, that's the only place I could find this specific quote from the UK magazine officially confirming the existence of a timeline for the zelda games.
Edit: I did manage to find the quote somewhere else: http://gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=130953 I honestly don't know why or how they managed to make MM Link adult instead of a kid.
Also: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8EHqeu7SZ4 where Eiji Aonuma touches upon the role of the Master Sword/Skyward Sword in the game. I may have misunderstood about how LOZ:SS is about the creation story of the Master Sword. He didn't speak about it very much.

Ah, hadn't seen that interview yet. Hopefully they don't make up some poorly developed story for it where Link ends up "becoming" the sword himself.
