How do DCTP subs look on iPod Touch?

Hey everyone,
I'm thinking of getting an iPod Touch (currently using a 4GB Nano that's ages old) but am stuck between which size machine to invest in. It looks like I can get the 8GB for $210 and the 32GB for $300. I can only see myself using the 32GB if I can put some Anime on it. So I just have to ask, has anyone here tried putting some of the beautifully subbed episodes of Conan on their iPod Touch/iPhone? If so, how's the quality? Can you read the subs?
Thanks!

Yes, great, and yes. I wish I still had my iPhone so I can take the show on the road (or that iPad, for that matter <_<)

Oooh... I wish I had that one >_<
and I`m pretty sure you always can read the subs, since it is hardsubbed. unless you mean something else

Oh, I'm sure the subs are always there, I'm just curious as to how readable they are. It seems that because iPods are so small, the picture and the subs will be really small (and hardly visible) as well. Hopefully not, though!

The size scales pretty well. You hold the picture much closer to your face than you would sit close to your television or computer screen. It all balances out well.

Just what is the difference between hard subbed and soft subbed? I remember seeing 'soft subbed' used somewhere in a forum thread but I never remembered to ask what it meant.

Hardsubbed = subtitles are on the screen permanently, there's no way to remove them from the image even if you wanted to.
Softsubbed = subtitles come as a separate file/you are able to choose whether you view the episode with subtitles or not.

Ah so then an example of soft subbed would be how you can turn the subtitles on or off on a DVD and an example of hard subbed would be a subbed VHS that wouldn't allow the subtitles to be turned off.

I've yet to put Conan on my ipod (don't feel like converting the audio), but the subtitles are comparable in size to other subs that I have put on it. To preface: I thought subs would look horrible on it. Turns out I was wrong. As long as they weren't "small" to begin with (which Conan isn't), it reads perfectly fine on the ipod. And you don't have to hold it close at all. I watch it about half the distance compared to my computer monitor (resting it on my knee, for example) and it's fine.

That'd be a good example, yes.

it's fine on my iphone 4, you have to make the the media player toolbox disappear however though (play, stop, pause, etc)

Sounds like the iphone 4 is inferior to the ipod touch 4! All I have to do to make the toolbox disappear is wait about 4 seconds.

I think it actually might go away too if you leave it alone for a while. So, in yo face, Ginrei Kuchiki

I'm pretty sure, too. At least that's how I remembered it. Hmm, now I'm tempted to use my tax refund to get the iPad back to enjoy DC on a nice screen.
