Your Top 2 Favorite Musicals

Post by toyks »

Ok guys. What are your two favorite musicals and your favorite song/scene for each?

Mine are Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera. (I can't decide between the two. Thus, the top TWO musical poll :P)

Les Miserables
Song: One Day More
Scene: When Eponine died. The song is pretty sweet in this scene too...*sniff*...even though *sniff* she is dying in that scene.

Phantom of the Opera
Song: Masquerade
Scene: The first time the Phantom was taking Christine to his 'lair'.

I really only like The Phantom of the Opera as far as musicals are concerned.
As for my favorite song/scene...

Song:  Notes
Scene:  Christine/Raoul/Phantom in the graveyard.  Good scene, not my favorite song, haha.

I hate when people make polls for threads asking about favorite movies of a whole year or genre. Especially since the options usually are very limited.

West Side Story
Song - Any.
Scene - Any.

A Hard Day's Night
Sing - Come On
Scene - Train scene.

Other.

Wicked
Song: Defying Gravity
Scene: her singing Defying Gravity. The whole song and scene is so inspiring, and sends chills down my spine. (in a good way) I hope to see this again one day.

Annie
Song: Tomorrow
Scene: Okay, so, the person who played Ms. Hannigan in this one.... was the original Annie. So, at the end of the musical both the person who played Annie in the play, AND the original Annie come up on stage and sing a duet of 'Tomorrow'. It was amazing.

The Sound of Music
Song: The Sound of Music :V
Scene: When the Captain sings

1776
Song: But Mr. Adams
Scene: The final one

I also like Cabaret. And +1 for A Hard Day's Night. XD And I assume we're excluding animated musicals.

Phantom of the Opera
Song: Think of Me
Scene: The one with the mirror, simply because of the conversations my tourism class had about what the Phantom would use that for after we watched it.

Grease
Song: Summer Nights
Scene: The dance.

You win just for mentioning this musical. :D

Out of the ones I've watched/seen:

Musical: The Music Man
Song: Ya Got Trouble
Scene: The kids managing to somehow play their instruments at the very end.

Musical: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum
Song: Everybody Ought to Have a Maid
Scene: "Third time around!" (running joke)
(This made it to the list based on my high school's production of it.  Have not seen movie/official stage version.)

Phantom of the Opera, I loved it. I saw another one but I don't remember the name, or much about it. It was several years ago and we left early do to my brothers (and probably mine) poor behavior.
