Nintendo has just announced a new DS called the 3DS and will support what else but 3d content, and the best part is you don't need those ugly glasses to see it. Their is extremely little information on it since it was just announced today. More info is going to be released to the public in June.
I'm surprised their having a new system already, even before the DSIXL, or WiiDs (pronounced weeds) were released. Can't wait to see how it will work. I heard the screens are going to be so close together that you will bearly see the center bar this mean no center camera.

if it takes as long for it to be worth the price considering the software (like the current consoles) then I'll wait to get it

Feels like the DSL came out not too long ago, but now we have the DSi, DSiXL, and even a new 3DS.
Nintendo should really slow-down before their fans run out of money. :-X

The DSi XL already was released. In Japan. Where Nintendo is located.

It's a handheld, not a console. Handhelds are actually good.

The DS itself came out 4 years ago. The rest are adaptations, just like the GBA got multiple adaptations before the DS's release.

And that's why you're wrong. Since it's already been released, months ago in fact, how could this announcement which just happened this week have come before its release?

DS came out in 2004 actually (DSL was in 2006) :-X
Still, as of late, it seems like they have been releasing new redesigns way too quick. They are cramming 4 handhelds (DS, DSL, DSi, DSiXL) into a generation of 6 years (DS in 2004, DSL in 2006, DSi in 2008, DSiXL in 2009), which is more compared to the GBA generation of 3 handhelds (GBA, GBASP, GBm) in 5 years. (I still can't figure out why Nintendo released the GBm one whole year after the DS came out, cause everyone that would have carried a handheld around would have probably already bought a DS, plus that fact that both handhelds only have the ARM7 processor [no GB/GBC compatibility]).
Looking at the release dates of the newest redesigns (DSi and DSiXL), it seems like Nintendo really wants to release something new each year. The DSi was released in 2008, DSiXL in 2009, and 3DS possibly in 2010 (or early 2011). Added to that, they're announcing a new handheld before the DSiXL even hits the 'States. Bad idea in my opinion.
Personally, I really want the DSi, DSiXL (only if it's cheap enough

), and 3DS, but three handhelds in three years? Give me a break Nintendo! :-X

Wow well the concept sounds interesting, but yeah I got to wait to see it before I decide that I'm going to spend my money on that rather than food >.>

My bad. I was using Pokemon's generation numbers and forgot it wasn't a launch title.

Still using a phat DS. I see no reason to upgrade until the 3DS comes out. I win.

Xcommando,
You do realize that WiiDS was an April Fools day joke by Game Informer, right?

0.0 WHAT THE HELL, I CANT BELEIVE THIS, THAT IS MADNESS, INSANITY, HOW COULD IT HAPPEN, WHY... why.
... ... ... I missed April Fools day. Oh and they lied, but thats not too important.
It also makes a little more sense why they said

Man me and my friends were waiting for a release date. Seriously they were.
