Sherlock Holmes movies and episodes

Post by tantei okuoku »

I got a collection of 10 black and white (the original) sherlock holmes movies and 27 episodes once again in black and white. I will be posting them (along with the pbs series if I can find it) here when I have a chance I will be on vacation for the next two weeks but I will try and post the movies and episodes still.

I'm really trying to find and read some of the old Sherlock Holmes novels (not on the internet, I like holding the books in my hands lol), so this sounds excellent. Will definitely check these out when they come out.  Mysteries are always a great watch.

the actors in my list of episodes and movies are
episodes ron howard, and sheldon reynolds, Howard Marion-crawford
Movies: 4 movies Basil Rathbone, 3 movies Arthur Wontner, Raymond Massey in the speckled band, Reginald Owen in A study in scarlet (1933), and from the newest one I have (1962) Sherlock Holmes and the Deadly Necklace which has Christopher Lee.

All my episodes and movies are in black and white.  and all the episodes are from 1954-1955. there also some old radio plays that somehow have video.

here is the first movie I have been able to upload. it is Sherlock Holmes dressed to kill. I plan on doing a better filing system later on.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1W8SCLS2. all the episodes I have are from 1954-1955, I am missing the final 8 episodes of that series, I highly doubt that it got up to a season 7 in the 1950's series

I just did some research on the various Sherlock Holmes TV shows and movies that were made over the years, and ...there are far too many lol. But anyways, I will try to shed some confusion in this topic.

This is the version that was produced between 1984 and 1994 and is considered by many to be one of the most faithful adaptation of Conan Doyle's stories produced.  This stars Jeremy Brett as Holmes, acting in 36 episodes and five films.  All but 19 of Conan Doyle's original stories were filmed.  This is because of the premature death of Brett from a heart attack in 1995.

You have the Sherlock Holmes series from the 1954-1955 (as you previously noted).  There are 39 episodes total and a dvd of it is being sold dirt cheap online with every episode on it, including the last eight.
Here's a few links for anyone interested in this last one. It has been known to have some disk errors with some though, so just a warning on that...

I plan on picking up this last set soon, so maybe I can rip the remaining episodes eventually as well. ...maybe  ;)

Anyways, the point of this post is that jamiecabascos, you have a different series then tantei okuoku has, so feel free to upload that as well if you deem fit :D

Well, you DLed the most true to the source, often called the best adaption of the series, version.

There are a ton of older movies and such of Sherlock Holmes, but including the 1939-1946 version staring Basil Rathbone as Holmes.
Rathbone's career as Holmes began with The Hound of the Baskervilles and The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, both made by 20th Century Fox and released in 1939 – the first Holmes films to be set in Victorian, rather than contemporary, times. These were followed by a series of 12 films (and a cameo appearance in the 1943 comedy Crazy House) produced by Universal from 1942 to 1946, set in the present and frequently pitting Holmes against Nazi agents. Although only the first of Rathbone's films was based directly on material by Conan Doyle, e.g. The Spider Woman (1944) was an amalgam of two stories, many fans feel that his portrayal most faithfully captures the Holmes of the original stories, due in part to his resemblance to Sidney Paget's original Strand illustrations. "The Adventures" also gives Rathbone a chance to show his range — in one scene he plays a disguised music hall actor, doing a very creditable version of "I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside"!
There are a few older ones as well, many of which are no longer available due to the fact they came out in the really early 1900s.  You can read a little about them here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sherlock_H ... ther_media

The first TV series that you're probably thinking about though is the Basil Rathbone one talked about above.
