Re: I Don't Know What I'm Doing
Strange my reply did not show up.
Anyway, the subber for 320 apparently wants to start using his own emoticons.

Re: I Don't Know What I'm Doing
Because the subber translator uses "stone" instead of "rock", you have to wonder whether or not he or she is from an English-speaking area that does uses "stone" as the name of the game in 321. On the other hand, maybe it was just a quick literal translation, and the subber did not give it a second thought.

Re: I Don't Know What I'm Doing
I'm going with the latter.
Where I first heard mention of the game was in an old educational program from MECC, which called it "Paper, Rock, Scissors" - hence my unusual preference for putting "paper" before "rock".

I just call it "rock, rock, rock." Nothing beats rock!

Subs for 323 and 324 were good for once. That is because for this case, the subber actually used punctuation to end sentences. Not having them is annoying. Only bad spelling error was "liek" instead of "like".

Also could use a comma after 'gambling' there.

Not sure how in episode 326, Hercule Poirot became Detective Poalo. I am sure usotsuki will figure it out and explain it to us.

The katakana for Poirot is po-a-ro. Guess the translator utterly missed the source.

Re: I Don't Know What I'm Doing
Seems like there are fewer obvious English sentence errors now. Who knows? Maybe previously, the person physically typing in the subtitles did not know any English. Alternatively, it could be that there is now somebody in quality control.
Anyway, the only things notable this week are minor such as an "extra space" between words in 327.

Re: I Don't Know What I'm Doing
Bet you guys & gals already know what image I am posting today. Naturally, it is the subtitle that says "Everybody tends to call her by her last name.." Too bad that did not include the subber.
Those who have only watched these UTB subs will likely say that this storyline makes no sense.

Fortunately, I think both the Spanish dubs fixed issues where the TMS translations referred to someone by first name, when the dialogue used the last name (e.g., "Haibara-san" subbed as "Ai", dubbed as "Haibara", "Kudo-kun" subbed as "Shinichi", dubbed as "Kudo").

Re: I Don't Know What I'm Doing
From 331. In the UTB sub, Ran says: "I didn't bring spats with me either." Sonoko later replies that Ran will have to wear a regular panty then.
In the Fansub, Ran says "I didn't bring tennis socks." Sonoko's reply is that Ran will have to wear regular socks.
However, the next scene shows Ran in a short tennis skirt. Frankly, neither sub seems correct. What is actually the proper translation?
In 332, Ran figures out Conan's hand gestures.
UTB says: crack this code...once and for all...right?
Fansub says: Ah! I know, a different... a weird thing, It could be?
Is either of these correct?

Re: I Don't Know What I'm Doing
From what I'm looking at the Viz manga (and the fact that the AZFS sub is legendarily bad for a group that was usually pretty good) I'm going with UTB.

Viz used "leggings".
I didn't know the word either.
