I don't know if you refer this as a game but

Ever17: The Out of Infinity

is a superb visual novel. It's pumped up my faith on the visual novel genre.
It's actually a science fiction story with romance elements. The story is really deep, not that deep on your first playthrough maybe. With different paths chosen you need to see 5 endings to get the complete story. Do not fear, every time you play it feels like a new story, different perspectives.

Ever17 also has an official English texted PC version, which is such nice a treat.
Every people who's interested in visual novels should check this one in my opinion.

Uh, there was a Mario game that I recall having water squirters and was on an island with Yoshi, but I can't recall the name of it and it was for the GameCube. ;_; I LOVED THAT GAME.
