I do think that there is a huge amount of stuff that you won't get if you don't read the books. Tonks and Remus being married comes out of absolutely NOWHERE if you didn't read the books, because their romantic/tragic subplot was removed entirely from the movies. Ditto Bill and Fleur.

Also, THE MOVIES DO NOT HAVE PEEVES. I feel like this is some kind of sin.

To quote Movies In Fifteen Minutes:

The scene explaining anything at all:

Definitely disappointed at the lack of Peeves. He wasn't a plot advancement, but he gave so much to the atmosphere of the castle.

Nope. In the movies he's nonexistant. Which meant that his epic abuse of Umbridge in the fifth movie was lost, and we probably won't get his brilliant victory song in 7.2 either. I'm sad now.

It wasn't lost, it was just done by Fred and George, right?

No, Fred and George abused Umbridge, but after they left midway through the year, Peeves took over. (Best moment: Harry sees Peeves trying to unscrew a chandelier, and as McGonnagall walks past she hisses "It unscrews the other way") Come to that, we lost a load of Fred and George's stuff too, like the swamp.

Oh wow, I must've skipped over that part with McGonnagall.

Yeah, that was classic! I was really disappointed that it wasn't in the movie. The swamp as well. Although, at least they kept Tonks and her changing nose. That was fun to watch even if it was just a few seconds.

Totally was XD

Oh, and we also lost Umbridges inglorious escape from Hogwarts! She gets chased away by Peeves, who hits her alternately with a walking stick and a sock full of chalk, with hordes of cheering children following. McGonnagall is awesome again when she says that she would stop Peeves, but she can't seem to find her walking stick...

I can't remember, but did that happen in that movie? Umbridge and her Wanker Squad attacking Hagrid, Awesome McGonnagall going out to stop them, and getting four Stunners to the chest and ending up in hospital for it? I had SO MUCH RAGE when I read that bit. SO MUCH RAGE.

I hope they insert a scene into 7.2 where Umbridge gets her ass handed to her, because to the best of my recollection she's never seen again after the whole break-in to the Ministry thing. And she so NEEDED to get her ass truly handed to her.

Agreed. I HATE that woman.
Though her office was kinda cute in Order of the Phoenix.
