Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
The Zelda stages, throughout the games, are uniformly gorgeous.
I kinda despise the moving stages, though. Especially any one based on the Ice Climbers.

The ice climbers are pure evil in general. I don't know how they do it, but every time I play against them, they completely destroy me. And their stages are worse.

Desyncs are the real problem with the Ice Climbers (even cg's can be a form of desyncs).Conia wrote:Not to mention the chain grabCommi-Ninja wrote: The ice climbers are pure evil in general. Ice Climbers are probably quite strong against any character with a strong finishing move who lacks agility. I never had a problem with them as Pit.ProfParanoia wrote:Desyncs are the real problem with the Ice Climbers (even cg's can be a form of desyncs).Conia wrote:Not to mention the chain grabCommi-Ninja wrote: The ice climbers are pure evil in general. The opponent I have problems with is Zelda when played by my friend. It's SO annoying when you can barely move because you're hit by Din's Fire every second. It's so bad that I'm actually relieved when he changes to Shiek.

i agree, i can beat my friend usually, but he makes me look amazingly weak when i use zelda, if he uses zelda, my only hopes are my darling ice climbersCallid wrote:Ice Climbers are probably quite strong against any character with a strong finishing move who lacks agility. Actually Ice Climbers vs Sheik is a 80:20 MU in IC's favor. Not sure on them vs Pit.Callid wrote:1.Ice Climbers are probably quite strong against any character with a strong finishing move who lacks agility.ProfParanoia wrote:Desyncs are the real problem with the Ice Climbers (even cg's can be a form of desyncs).Conia wrote:Not to mention the chain grabCommi-Ninja wrote: The ice climbers are pure evil in general. Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
IIRC, tiers have been mentioned before. While I don't deny the existence of tiers, I doubt their relevance, as I believe that tiers are different for overall playing strength.
For example, a character me and most of my friends consider very good to learn Smash Brothers is Samus (Melee). Her attacks aren't complicated or difficult, and do quite an amount of damage if they hit. Of course, they won't be able to beat stronger players anyway, no matter with what character.
For an intermediate player, Pit is probably a (very) good choice, as his abilities are nearly perfect for those who aren't capable of things like perfect timing etc. This character can inflict a lot ofdamage by simply relying on good terrain and his abilities to reach and hold it (B+Up and B+Side, respectively).
A strong player is probably more suited to the likes of Zelda, characters who need very decent timing and control, but not perfect - it doesn't matter if Din's Fire explodes left or right of the opponent's body, only close is necessary.
Finally, pro players probably need to stick to the "official" ties, as these are the ones relevant to their class.
Also, strength clearly differs depending on playing mode, e.g. there are some characters who suddenly become VERY strong in Stamina mode e.g., and also even more strongly on the number of players (Zelda is strongest in duels). Therefore, I think each character may have a situation when (s)he's the best, even if they are very low on the pro tier.

Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Tiers only apply to how well a character does in the tourney scene, how often they are used, their metagame development, MU's, ect.; basically the highest level. Tiers main problem of it's accuracy is the list is concocted by the Brawl Back Room, which recently is mostly made of morons.Callid wrote: IIRC, tiers have been mentioned before.
