For reasons unknown I have a strong urge to throw in my $0.02. ;)

The recent (within the last five years or so) openings and endings have really been meh to me. The songs from the 90's and early 2000's were what I considered to be unique, risky, and good all at the same time. Detective Conan introduced songs to me that I normally wouldn't ever listen to, like Free Magic, and made me like them. The songs now just seem so... uninspired and bland. They don't have it, whatever it is. Yeah. They just aren't doing it for me, which is a disappointment because many of my favorite songs of all-time have come as a result of watching Detective Conan. I have enjoyed some newer openings and endings, but none come close to cracking my top 5.

#1a.) Overture - Inaba Koushi <--- amazing, amazing, amazing. Sucks my favorite endings are only used for a few episodes...
#1b.) Kimi To Yakusoku Shita Yasashii Ano Basho Made - U-ka Saegusa in dB <--- The unique DC opening makes it even better.

Either could be my favorite on any given day, depending on my mood (happy or sad). And after this, it gets really fuzzy.

At this current moment, let's say...

#3.) Kimi Ga Inai Natsu - Deen
#4.) Step by Step (Detective Conan Ending Version - not the same as full-length MP3 or whatever. Yes, it's different.) - Ziggy
#5.) START - Aiuchi Rina

Detective Conan went through a stretch of great openings from 13 to 15. START was my favorite song for quite a bit, and I loathed Hoshi no Kagayaki Yo for retiring it. Hoshi was kind of like mushrooms for me - didn't like them as a kid, but developed a taste for them later on.

When Nazo ended, I had a similar loathe toward Roulette, which is also a great song. Nazo isn't as great as it was back then though. :D

Some of the better and recent openings and endings: :-X

#1.) Kumo Ni Notte - U-ka
#2.) Ichibyou Goto Ni Love For You - Kuraki Mai
#3.) 100 Mono Tobira - U-ka and Rina
