For the times of the airings of the announcement you can find more about it here:

UK (BBC):
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/doctorwho/ar ... -04-August
BBC Media Centre (formerly Press Office):
http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latest ... -live.html

US - Eastern Time Zone (BBC America):
http://www.bbcamerica.com/anglophenia/2 ... al-sunday/

In a nutshell: The announcement will air live on BBC1 at 7:00 PM (British Time) and in the US the simulcast will air on BBC America at 2:00 PM (EDT) and when you factor in the Pacific Time Zone it will air at 11:00 AM (PDT).

All of these link are links from BBC and BBC America. You can't get more official than that.

Look for it anyway. I'm in Italy right now and the hotel somehow has BBC1 and BBC2. Also, Aussies and Canadians can also watch it, though people'll have to google the details themselves.

EDIT: Brilliant choice btw, though there are a lot of gifs from The Thick Of It being thrown around which are interesting to say the least. Not saying anymore than that in case some people don't want to know yet.

And the 12th Doctor is...

Peter Capaldi

Here is a link to the story from the BBC's Media Centre
http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latest ... octor.html

Just a side-note:
You have already seen him in "Doctor Who" - in the episode The Fires of Pompeii, he played Caecilius.

So does that mean they've answered the question in the title? Cause I've been waiting for the answer to Who this Doctor is since I heard about this show.

Silence will fall and the question will be asked, the oldest question in the universe...

I remember Capaldi from The Hour, I liked his character, even though I'm surprised they didn't go with a young good looking actor, it may be for the best, I can't wait to see him be the doctor! ;D

Some people may actually want to be surprised, y'know? >_<
Spoiler: Because these tags exist
Capaldi has also been in Torchwood (Children of Earth) as well as the DW ep someone has already mentioned, but anyway, like I said, he's a really good choice imo.
