I'm just hoping we don't get an angstalanche wherein Clara dies every episode.
Spoiler:
If it became Higurashi-like and they didn't make it over angsty, I don't think I'd mind :x
Spoiler:
It would be angsty. It's The Doctor. Even if he knows that she'll be back somehow, he's still going to angst his ass off about her dying and suffering so much and how he can never save her.
Spoiler:
Shame really 'cause I kinda prefer it when they just hint at Eleven being kinda darker and don't outright say it or have him angsting :/. Oh well, for a Christmas ep this one was decent, I guess.
Spoiler:
I did like how he was in this one... well, I don't think like is the right word, because it made me want to cry a lot. But it was well done. You get a very distinct impression that the Doctor's been spending a long time alone, in the darkened Tardis, brooding over everything that's ever gone wrong in his life, which is a lot. And then he has this cheeky little grin a couple of times that basically goes "OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M DOING THIS SQUEEEEEE!" which is so adorable and then she dies and I'm in floods of tears going "MOFF WHY DO YOU LIKE TO CRUSH MY HEART SO? WHO ARE YOU, KANO?!"
But I think it was very well done.

Spoiler:
Doctor doesn't always angst though, only when deaths are permanent. You see him cryin his eyes out every time Rory died?
but yeah, that'd probly happen. It would be great though if she just kept dying and the Doctor was just like "alright, c'mon, really? Seriously? Again? Dammit."
I mainly liked the OP and the new TARDIS interior, that slightly went back to the original one. I almost screamed yesh when I saw that....
I also liked the Silurian detective and her wife, me pointing at wife there because that is simply brilliant.
Lastly... The idea of a reincarnating girl sounds a lot like what I used in a Doctor Who roleplay (with DC characters called Kaito Who). There, Hakuba marries fem Shinichi (a half time lord). After he dies, he just keeps following her around, or at least lookalikes with the same name do.
Since I have my own explanation for that thing I'm even more curious what Moffat will come up with.

Well, both the Doctor and Amy were upset each time Rory died. The Doctor was just generally more focused on comforting Amy than being upset himself. Then there's the last time they both die... *heart shatters just remembering*
at least they had a nice death
(and I still don't get why he didn't pick them up from the past :x)

Because he'd seen their gravestones and already knew that they lived out their lives and died there. Also, it's entirely possible that the way the Angels manipulate people's timelines makes it impossible for the Tardis to interfere with those timelines.

He only knew that which was observable had taken place if that makes any sense. They could have planted the gravestones there and he saw them. All the gravestones show is that there is a gravestone with Rory and Amy's names on it. Think Sarah1281 (hope I got that right, she's the one who wrote 'Oh God Not Again' with HP and parodying the time travel) wrote a fic about how it could've been resolved while keeping with the gravestone and the book. Go find it and you'll get what I mean hopefully :x.
But anyway, Rory and Amy had to leave soon. They'd foreshadowed it for ages and Amy wasn't just going to give up unless forced to or killed.

I guess so, not that I minded. I'm happy with the return of Oswin, so I hope she'll stick around

I think the episode was really great, with a different atmosphere!
My favorite line: if I'm ever in the need of advice from a psychotic potato dwarf, you'll certainly be the first to know!
I wonder what they are going to do with Clara, what's in store character-wise for her, I do hope it will be well done.
Also, not exactly a fan of the new opening, they could have done better with better 3D effects...
Lastly: Moffat, what is with you and people falling off things???

saw this on another forum, figured I'd post it here because why not (information about Clara/Great Intelligence stuff):
Spoiler:
- Clara’s headstone in 1892 states that she was born on the 23rd of November 1866, and that she died on the 24th December 1892.
- This means she not only shares the same birthday (though not the year) as Doctor Who itself but that she was also 26 years old when she died — the same age as Doctor Who was when it was cancelled in 1989.
- The Evil of the Daleks introduced the one other Victorian companion to feature in the series: Victoria Waterfield (who also faced the Daleks and the Great Intelligence). This episode took place in 1966, a hundred years after Clara was born.
- The oldest Dalek model to appear in Asylum of The Daleks (Clara’s first death) was from Victoria Waterfield’s first story. There may also be a connection between Victoria, River and The Ponds due to the ‘water’ theme present in all of their names.
- The Doctor seems to have given the Great Intelligence the idea to attack by London Underground in this most recent Christmas episode, which actually happened in the Second Doctor story The Web of Fear, coincidentally also featuring Victoria.
