Anyways, I think the movie should be pretty good, although I won't be able to see it on release day b/c it's my mom's birthday.  :'(
mangaluva wrote: By the way, the problem with the previous Spiderman movies is that they weren't made by Marvel and so weren't set into this universe. Checking the wiki page for the new one, though, it turns out it is being made by Marvel, so fingers crossed it'll be in this universe and Spidey'll be around for Avengers II. And what do you mean, CoolKid? Spiderman was often part of the Avengers, IIRC.

The X-Men are also supposed to exist in the Marvel universe, but as long as the movie rights still belong to Fox, that isn't going to happen.
Uuuuh... CoolKid somehow is right and wrong. Spiderman is indeed a part of Avengers, but as a reserve member. He is not in the early recruits. He doesn`t even join the Avengers in the first 2 decades if I remember correctly. But in the New Avengers, Spiderman joins the team as a main member, I think.

And yes, while Marvel Cinematic Universe is made by Marvel Studios, The new Spiderman (The Amazing Spiderman) is made by Marvel Entertaintment, which is the parent of Marvel Studios. I have my doubt Spiderman will join the Avengers in Avenger 2 or Avenger 3, but if he really does join, that would be freaking awesome. I mean, Spiderman story is being reboot, right. Why don`t make it ready for this universe, anyway?

Since the new Spidey movie is another reboot, I see no reason for it not to be in the MCU. I actually need to go see that. When I do, I'll stick around for the whole credits just to see if there's a stinger with Samuel L Jackson XD

Columbia Pictures still holds the rights to Spiderman, and they'll never let it go.  So basically, you'll never see Spidey in an Avengers movie or vice versa (as well should be the case, he is not an Avenger no matter how much Marvel wants to milk him as one in the last 10 years).

Wiki is wrong.  Columbia Pictures owns the rights and is making it.  Marvel is merely credited since they own the character itself.
mangaluva wrote: Isn't there a video game like that?
No, but there were two comic series.  JLA vs Avengers and Marvel vs DC.  Superman fought Hulk in one, and I think Thor in the other.

Ah, right :P I've only read the occasional random issue of the comics, so I'm unclear about who is actually in the Avengers on and off.

For that matter, I have never heard of Ant-Man before. Apparently, the movie is going to be an action film with comedic elements.

Well, there is a Capcom vs. Marvel game series. But I've never heard of anything like a Marvel vs. DC one. Which is weird.

As for Spidey, (and I swear, not all of my posts in here will be Loki-spam after this. XD) both he and Loki met once in one of the comics, and I think had a truce for a little while. All I know is that Loki 'owes' Spiderman.

Loki's not very good at keeping to his word, as some angry dwarves with a needle and thread can attest XD

He was one of the actual founding members: Henry Pym.  Unfortunately, he's most well known for beating his wife after a nervous breakdown.  He was never a funny person, so it wouldn't surprise me if the movie were based on the new Ant-Man, who is freaking hilarious (almost Deadpool levels of funny, such as using his shrinking and flying abilities to peek on Ms Marvel showering) and a fan-favorite.

Except he wasn't just about ants.  He was also known as Giant-Man, as he was smart enough to think "Hey, if I can shrink myself, I can probably grow myself too."  He also took the identity of Yellow Jacket, which he made "stingers" and was able to fly in.  Also, he could shrink other things in addition to himself.

So it is the day after tomorrow huh... This should be a very good week for me, as I wait this movie for a year already. I wonder if the joy from watching it can beat my "8-weeks joy" from last year. I watched 8 movie every Sunday night for 8 consecutive weeks, which all of them were awesome movies.
