Come across it quite a bit already, but I'm kinda surprised it's achieved 'meme' status so soon. :o

finally could catch up with the other 2 episodes of Season 2 after finishing some mammoth work. so worth the wait.

(episode 2)
Spoiler:
i liked the mystery a bit better here, it was told in a straightforward way so it was a nice change from Scandal.. I liked both ways of telling the story but it's just nice to have a change! didn't expect the solution (i thought it had to do with all the flashing lights :X) but to be honest wasn't focusing too much on the solution because i was so happily distracted by the Holmes/Watson dialogues and the lovely horror elements!

also the guy who played the victim is pretty brilliant i thought. the think about a Hound adaptation is that it can turn quite corny.. but he made his tragedy so real and i just really, really felt terrible for him.

have to agree with everyone else that the Maggie thing was bit 'meh'.
(episode 3)
Spoiler:
!!! WHAT ARE WE MISSING?? i read an interview with Moffat where he said that there is a clue that everyone has missed so far and it's something that Sherlock did, that was very out of character. but to be fair to the fans, i don't know how much of the fad Moffat has been reading up on, so it could very well be that people have guessed at the right theory already :p

Have to agree with everyone about Molly, the cyclist, the rubbish truck/bin, etc. I didn't notice the rubbish myself, but I did notice that this is what John observed: (1) Sherlock jumping, (2) Sherlock falling (3) the sound of something hitting the pavement (4) a dead body that looked like Sherlock on the pavement -- so there is definitely something about the fact that John never actually saw Sherlock hit the floor and Sherlock had asked Molly for help.

But I'm kind of puzzled by something else - how did Sherlock convince Moriarty that he wasn't 'ordinary'? The camera only shows us both of their (beautiful) faces up close [heh ;)] so that isn't much help.. how did Sherlock tell him that he was beaten and so drive him to shoot himself? [or is there just something i am completely missing here?]

On a sidenote, I do think that Mycroft was involved.. despite lacking in 'sentiment' he is very protective of his brother (and i'm guessing, about his family in general) and there is no way in hell that he traded personal information about Sherlock for information about the code, not for any good reason e.g. Sherlock wanted him to.

Definitely. MU was so much faster for me than everything else.

i torrented it at 1.7 MB/s, so i don't care too much about MU or the like.

in this case.

"The energies of our system will decay; the glory of the sun will be dimmed, and the earth, tideless and inert, will no longer tolerate the race which has for a moment disturbed its solitude. Man will go down into the pit, and all his thoughts will perish. The uneasy consciousness, which in this obscure corner has for a brief space broken the contented silence of the universe, will be at rest. Matter will know itself no longer. 'Imperishable monuments' and 'immortal deeds,' death itself, and love stronger than death, will be as though they had never been."

"Elementary" just got some major talent on board: Michael Cuesta is directing the pilot. This guy was responsible for setting the aesthetic and production direction of both Dexter and Homeland (two of the best-shot shows on TV). In addition, he's an exec producer on Homeland, which may very well be the best show on TV right now. It's really that good. This guy's usual job is to show up and help a show get moving and then move onto something else. He's an ace at that, so let's hope for the best on this too.

Wasn't it the CIA?

Also, here's an interesting little easter egg I heard about email [email protected]. Leave the subject line blank, and put only "I believe in Sherlock Holmes, Moriarty was real" in the body of the message. What arrives in your inbox a few minutes later is... a little spooky. Gets creepier the longer you think about it and how much Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss like to troll their fandom.

A german blogger actually found out how....
Spoiler:
...Sherlock might have stopped his pulse.

http://puschenruebe.wordpress.com/2012/ ... ssed-clue/

Using a rubberball in the in the armpit or in the crook. Which is actually an old magician's trick.

And Sherlock played with a rubberball when he was in the hospital...

I had already thought about that myself. And it's well-known that Gatiss is a fan of magic, actually--he loves Derren Brown (who did this very trick during one of his stage shows, actually). This was also used in episode 174 of Conan.

[me=Stopwatch]found that on TV Tropes a while ago.[/me]

It's awesome :x

And seriously, the Sherlock fandom is amazing *_*

@S.Vinyard:
Spoiler:
Yeah, considering it was pretty random showing the ball earlier, it's almost certain that's how his pulse was stopped, the other guy preventing John from checking the pulse at the neck also backs it up. I think I found a complete theory (as in, shows all the other little details) that seemed to fit with how his death was faked on tumblr earlier (it was in pics...). I might go and see if I can dig it up again later.
Anyway, I wonder if the 'Vatican Cameos' from Scandal is a Chekhov's gun, this series loves them and if that is the case then the note could have a lot more behind it than originally it seems (eg. 'magic tricks' and the use of the word 'fake' instead of 'fraud could be relevant), however that's only random speculation, so~

i tried the e-mail -- am I supposed to get a very specific reply in the context of Sherlock/Moriarty? if so I'm not getting it :S
Spoiler:
am proud to say that I also made the connection between the rubber ball and Sherlock stopping his pulse! :D if I remember correctly John took his pulse via Sherlock's right hand, and Sherlock was lying on his right side, so that his right arm would be squished under the weight of his body -- it was only after John had let go of his arm that Sherlock's body was turned over.

I was just re-reading The Final Problem and realised that in Professor Moriarty's first appearance (ie. this story), his first name was never actually mentioned. In fact in that story James Moriarty is named as his brother. It was only in later stories (Empty House, Valley of Fear) that he was mentioned as Professor James Moriarty. Wikipedia also notes this inconsistency (and apparently fans make fun of the fact that the Professor and his brother have the same first name :p).

..I know the whole world takes it for granted that Professor Moriarty's first name is James, but I wonder if Moffat and Gatiss may take advantage of the inconsistency (like they did with the inconsistency of John's leg/shoulder injury in the books) -- and introduce the real Professor Moriarty, with Jim being only his brother?? o_o

yeah i know it's a bit mad, and i dont like the idea myself since it takes away from Jim Moriarty's force as the main villain (I'm a fan of Andrew Scott's performance), but i guess these are ideas you get at 2 in the morning :X

Oooh, that does seem like the sort of canon trolling they'd do...
