Re: Live actions
Shiho was the best in my opinion; the picture Gin was holding was pure genius.
Ai wasn't as good though. Ironic.

Re: Live actions
Gawd....I couldn't pay attention to the second live action because the whole time I kept wishing someone would rip off Gin's stupid wig. Stupid villians have long swishy silver hair syndrome...
Shiho's pretty <3
Pfft characterisation, what characterisation?

Re: Live actions
DC's live actions were.. okay. Well the first one was kinda boring to me but still watchable. I loved the second one mainly though, because of Kashii Yu (Shiho's actress) and all the ShinShiho moments.

Re: Live actions
To be honest, I liked the DC-live actions way more than some of the movies
And I didn´t think the actress who played Ran was too fat, she was just... not that pretty. Sonoko´s was alot prettier than her.

But the live actions? SEriously? I can't sit through them because my brain end up hurting or I started laughing too hard.
But then Shinichi WAS played by Oguri Shun...though I'm used to seeing Shun in less scruffy hair xD. I love Oguri Shun but it's so hard to see him act as a detective o_O

Re: Live actions
well let's see
Movie 1 was good
Movie 2 was great
Movie 3 was good
Movie 4 was great until the WORST ENDING EVER which nearly ruined it completely
Movie 5 was fine but they never focused on anything long enough for much of it to be interesting outside of the explosions and actiony stuff (oddly enough, my favorite part of the movie is probably Mitsuhiko talking with Ran about being in love with more than one person)
Movie 6 was awesome
Movie 7 was...alright
I haven't seen them but Movies 8-11...well most people seem to say that they aren't good (and a lot of the fans of 8 and 10 seem to be HUGE Kid fans that make their opinions of the movies seem kinda biased). Almost everyone seems to agree that 11 was horrible.
Movie 12 was a great case but was ruined by them trying to make it as boring as possible (see: episode 383)

Re: Live actions
so I just watched the first live action conan movie
it was decent, mostly because of how non-serious it was.
also, I sorta laughed at the very end when they did the 1 second Kaito cameo. I mean really, there wasn't even a point to it.

Re: Live actions
I'm not a Live action person but I finally got around watching DC2 live action and I thought it was good. I of course went in with the mindset that I was really watching a J-Drama based off Conan than a Conan Live Action and that lowered my standards enough to enjoy the show for what it was. There was way more drama than mystery or suspense but the scenes were well done(I haven't really seen many J-dramas so maybe my amateur eyes are lying to me
). The comic relief scenes(this I know about) where well done and subtle, which is sometimes the best comedy relief. Shinichi's pause "what?", the dramatic "you gotten fatter", and the O_O _> reaction to Shiho's hug by Shinichi were great moments.
Only character I really had a problem was with Gin. They silver hair didn't bother me..okay that's a lie it did bother me, but not as much as his shortness. When casting a Gin, you don't cast a guy who's shorter than the Vodka..that just makes Gin a comic relief bad guy..then you throw bad silver hair on him, that's moving into insult territory there.
As for the Ran being fat, she didn't appear to be fat but the quick glimpse you got of her legs near the end kinda hint that she doesn't have an extremely slim figure which is a good thing. Also maybe they could of giving her elevator shoes or something, she made Shinichi look like he was 8ft.

Re: Live actions
I just watched the second live action now as well now
while I did think gin's wig was pretty funny, I didn't particularly have a problem with his height. I mena, he could have been taller, but to be honest I didn't even notice his lack of height until you pointed it out.
also, I think kogoro's the best actor in the live actions probably, he does things so absurdly that it fits with them really well.
one of the things that annoyed me was the part where
another thing that sort of confused me was during the opening credits, they show everyone with a picture of them from the anime in the background. For Shiho, they have a picture of her in a labcoat:
now maybe I'm just crazy, but I don't remember that at all? I mean, the only times I ever recall seeing shiho was in flashbacks where she's handcuffed in that room where she takes the pill, but that's not it. Not to mention that's also a very new-style drawing, which makes me more confused as well. It's a completely minor thing, but whatevs.
as for ran being fat, I think the main reason people say that is because she has a roundish face.

Re: Live actions
I haven't seen live action 1 yet, but I've seen 2. I think the story is quite good, but the two things I don't like the most are Oguri's hairstyle and Gin looked like, I don't know, cosplay
I don't like Gin's eye-color either...

Meh the difference between you and me is that I'm not impressed by action much.Akonyl wrote:watkirite wrote: Well given the movies were terrible

Yes I'm never impressed by action that much. Big explosions are okay but I live off mysteries and character development. Movies are not for me.

Re: Live actions
All the live action versions of anime that I have seen are....yikes. It almost works with DC, and again with Hana Kimi...but it's hard to tell who's who. (More so in Hana Kimi, which doesn't seem to make much effort to really differentiate between characters, or make them look like they do in the manga.)
By far the worst Live Action version of anything that I've ever seen, though, would be the "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon". They completely rewrote the story, and the whole henshin thing doesn't work with real-life people. Also having the cats as plush toys....yeah, no. Icky.

I have finally started to actually publish my story! For the moment, expect a new chapter each month.
The Case of the Midnight Channel
"When a strange letter summons the Mouri family to Inaba, Ran is expecting a case. She's not expecting it to involve the TV, though.
If Naoto investigated everyone who came to visit Inaba, she'd have little time for real cases. When Yukiko reports that the Midnight Channel is back, however, she starts to wonder if the visitors are connected. Especially when the image clears, unveiling yet another mystery."

Short version: I'm taking various DC/MK characters to Inaba (where Persona 4 takes place) and dropping them through the TV to face their Shadows!
